NFL Odds – AFC East Supremacy on the Line – Giants at Eagles on Sunday
November 21, 2010
Sunday Night brings us what should be another classic and NFL betting lines are that not even the shrill voice of Chris Collinsworth will keep me away from the TV.
The Eagles are sky high right now after their beat down of the Redskins but they will have to remain focused this week, a good Giants team is coming to town, fresh off the embarrassment of last week’s 33-20 debacle against Dallas.

NEW YORK GIANTS (6-3) vs. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (6-3)

Broadcast: NBC
NFL Odds:
- NY Giants: +3 ½ (-115)
- Philadelphia: -3 ½ (-105)
Moneyline: NY Giants +155: Philadelphia -175
Total: 48 points
The New York Giants are right where most expected – an NFL Odds front runner in the NFC East. At times this season, they have looked like world beaters while at other times; they have looked disinterested and totally out of sync. So which team shows up on Sunday? NFL Odds are that the “Good Giants” will be present at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Giants offense has been terrific all season long but has a formula for success – run the ball to set up play action passes for shots down the field. If you interrupt any of the cogs in that formula, the Giants appear lost.
At present, the Giants have the 6th best passing offense (262.89 yards per game) and the 5th best running game (146.89 yards per game). With Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jacobs, Hakeem Nicks and most of all, Eli Manning, they should be able to execute.
New York’s defense has been reborn this season after a lost 2009 campaign. They will need to be uber-sharp against the Eagles dynamic offense. The Giants rank 4th against the pass (286.89 yards per game) and 3rd against the run (83.33 yards per game). Their job will be simple – limit the big play and keep Mike Vick in the pocket! No problem – right?
The Philadelphia Eagles are hands down the most exciting team in the NFL at present and are 4-0 in games that Michael Vick has started. NFL Odds are that the emergence of Michael Vick has been good for the league, not the opposite, like many people had been hoping for. The Eagles did absolutely nothing wrong on Monday night when they beat the Redskins 59-28!
The Eagles have the 9th ranked passing game and the third ranked running game in the NFL. What makes them special however is the unpredictability of their offense. Will Vick throw or will he hand off? Will he call his own number, or simply improvise a 20 yard run? These are all questions that a defensive mind is force to answer before each and every snap when Vick is under center.
The Eagles defense has been solid but not spectacular this season. Of note however, they have not allowed a 100 yard rusher since Week 4.
NFL Odds Outlook:
The New York Giants are 5-1 SU in their last six games and 17-8 SU in their last 25 on the road. However the Giants are just 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five games against Philadelphia and just 2-4 SU in their last six trips to the City of Brotherly Love.
The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-1 SU in their last five games and 4-8 ATS in their last 12. The Eagles are 11-4 SU in their last 15 games at home but are just 1-4 ATS in their last five on home turf.
The Philadelphia Eagles are too hot to handle at the moment. They are racking up the offense and playing solid defense. The Giants always seem to have a mid-season slump, right about the time that the fans call for Tom Coughlin’s head. The Eagles are certainly the surprise of the NFC East – they should take over sole possession of the division. I like dogs – but I like Vick too. I’ll take the home side in a close but exciting game.
NFL Odds Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -3
