NFL Game Odds: Steelers invade Cincinnati

September 25, 2009

Pittsburgh 1-1 (Road: 0-1) 4:15pm ET

Cincinnati 1-1 (Home: 0-1) TV: CBS

The four point favorites and Super Bowl Champions Pittsburgh Steelers look to win their ninth straight in Cincinnati as they face the Bengals at 4 15 PM ET, at Paul Brown Stadium.

The Steelers could be 2-0 but kicker Jeef Reed missed a couple of fourth quarter field goal attempts and they lost against Chicago by 3 points.

However, the missed field goals are not the Pittsburgh only problem. Their rush game has been horrendous in the first two weeks; RB Willie Parker ran the ball 13 times for 19 yards Week 1 against the Titans and he ran the ball 14 times for only 47 yards and caught one pass for three against Chicago.

The Steelers defense was solid at Chicago, allowing 17 points on 275 yards, but they didn’t have any shutdown plays. This is where they miss Troy Polamalu.

The key for the Bengals in this game is Antwan Odom; the defensive end tied a single game team mark with five sacks against the Packers last week (6 were the team total).

RB Cedric Benson ran for 141 yards in Cincinnati’s 31-24 victory at Green Bay and could be another bonus for the Bengals.

Cincinnati has lost five straight overall against Pittsburgh. QB Ben Roethlisberger had a TD pass and ran for a score in the Steelers’ 27-10 home win last Nov. 20.

Something is telling me that Pittsburgh’s winning streak over the Bengals will be over this weekend. In my opinion the D line of the Bengals will eat the Steelers offensive line alive and it could end up being the deciding factor in the game.

NFL Betting lines:

Pittsburgh Steelers -4 -110
Cincinnati Bengals +4 -110
O/U 37 -110

My picks: huge upset by the Bengals. Over.
