NFL Game Line – Packers Welcome Bills For Home Opener This Sunday
September 19, 2010
The thought of Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers telling media after the game that his team didn’t play to their potential in a 27-20 win on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles must have sent shivers down the back of Buffalo Bills’ head coach Chan Gailey. For all that his team did right in a 15-10 loss to the division rival Miami Dolphins, Gailey came up short in his Bills’ coaching debut, and will now need to travel to Wisconsin looking for his first win of the season against one of the favorites to contend for the Super Bowl this season out of the NFC.

NFL Game Line: What The Bills Will Have To Do To Win
For all the negatives that have been talked about concerning the Bills’ week one loss to Miami, Buffalo may not have been as bad as people had initially projected. After all, despite first half struggles over which the Bills’ offense managed to put just three points on the board prior to the final quarter, Gailey had his team within three points with just over five minutes to play in regulation time after a 31-yard touchdown pass to Roscoe Parrish late in the fourth. Penalties played a major role in the Bills’ loss, as well as poor execution, particularly on the offensive line. Buffalo undoubtedly has one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL, and must pull together to avoid being embarrassed by the Packers.
NFL Game Line: What The Packers Will Have To Do To Win
Despite the final score, the Packers dominated the Eagles in a big road win to open the season last weekend, scoring 20 unanswered points between the second and third quarters to take a 20-3 lead in the game, then allowing Philadelphia to come back with 10 straight points once they felt the win was already secure. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers wasn’t the fantasy star that many expected him to be in week one, throwing for only 188 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Fortunately, the Packers’ starter won’t have to be much better this week against Buffalo in order to open the season with consecutive wins. Green Bay’s defense was solid early on, forcing Eagles’ starter Kevin Kolb to the sidelines with a concussion, but may just want to allow Trent Edwards to stay under center for this one.
NFL Game Line: Outlook & Pick
The Bills will face an uphill climb this season just to remain respectable, and a road trip to Wisconsin is never a good thing for a struggling team, nevermind that this will be Green Bay’s home opener. The Packers want to be better than they were in a week one win over the Eagles, and since Philadelphia is deeper than Buffalo, and the game was in Pennsylvania, the Bills may very well have trouble keeping this one close.
