Brett Favre +7½ TD passes -150
Drew Brees -7½ TD passes +120
Analysis: Brees led the league with 34 TD passes in 2009, but Favre was right behind with 33 TD strikes of his own. This season however, I don’t suspect Favre will reach that total as he will start the regular season with his receiving core ravaged by injury.
Brees has tossed 34 touchdown passes in each of the last two seasons while tossing 27 or more in five of the last six seasons overall. Favre threw 30 touchdown passes in 2009 but just 15 and 21 in the two seasons prior to that.
Nevertheless, I am going to back Favre to narrowly cover the total as a 7.5-TD underdog here. I think this matchup is going to be very close with Favre covering the spread by just one or two TD passes.
My Pick: Brett Favre +7½ TD Passes

Aaron Rodgers -3 TD passes -110
Brett Favre +3 TD passes -120
Analysis: Aaron Rodgers used to play in Brett Favre’s shadows, but nor more NFL betting buffs! Rodgers is a star in his own right and is truly among the very elite signal-callers in the league now. Rodgers threw 30 touchdown passes for the Green Bay Packers last season after throwing 28 TD strikes in 2008 in his first season as a full-time NFL starter.
NFL gamblers can see from the aforementioned statistics of Favre’s TD passes that the grizzled veteran has averaged just under 25 TD passes per year over the last four seasons and that’s a number I expect him to finish close to this season as well.
I’m going to back Aaron Rodgers to narrowly cover the TD spread here as he continues his maturation process and upward spiral to become arguably the best quarterback in the NFL this season.
My Pick: Aaron Rodgers -3 TD Passes
Joe Flacco +2 TD Passes -120
Tony Romo -2 TD Passes -110
Analysis: Tony Romo threw 26 TD passes last season, compared to 21 for Baltimore’s young Joe Flacco. Romo threw a whopping 36 TD passes back in 2007 and has thrown 26 in each of the past two seasons while Flacco threw just 14 TD passes during his rookie season in 2008.
I know Flacco hasn’t surpassed the 21-plateau mark just yet, but the Baltimore Ravens have upgraded its passing attack in a big way entering the 2010 regular season – and I believe Flacco can close the five-TD gap that separated them last season thanks to the additions of Anquan Boldin and T.J. Houshmandzadeh.
My Pick: Joe Flacco +2 TD Passes
