NFL Futures Betting Odds – Cash in on Bi-Conference Week 1 Parlay Pick

June 10, 2010

Think it’s too early to get started with your 2010 NFL wagering?

Well, think again pro football betting buffs!

Thanks to these clever 2010 NFL Futures Odds – and my expert NFL parlay pick centered around one contest in each conference – pro football gamblers everywhere will have an excellent opportunity to make a potentially winning wager on each matchup.

Let me get started with the NFC since the last Super Bowl winner represents that conference.

Green Bay vs. Philadelphia
Packers Pk -115

Analysis: Led by their clearly gifted signal caller Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers went 11-5 SU last season and will undoubtedly be one of the top contenders to win the entire NFC next season. Not only did the Packers have a fine season on the field in 2009, but they also recorded the best ATS record in all of football, going a blistering 11-4-1 ATS for Packer-backers everywhere.

The Philadelphia Eagles also went 11-5 last season and did manage to record a fine 9-7 ATS mark for pro football gamblers. Unfortunately, the Birds will not be led by veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb anymore after the team traded away its franchise star this offseason to division rival Washington.

Philly will now be led by fourth-year signal caller Kevin Kolb, a player that has thrown all of 130 career passes while making just two career starts in three seasons.

While I really like Kolb and believe he may turn out to be a very good quarterback at some point, first-year starters typically struggle and I suspect Kolb will be no different as he costs the Birds at least a game or two simply because he will be learning on the job.

Philadelphia also has some issues at running back, linebacker and in the defensive secondary  that will turn to rebuilding ballclub into a likely seven or eight-win team at best this coming season.

No matter how you look at it, this is a contest that the Green Bay Packers should have been favored in as they are simply the better, more experienced team in this matchup now.

I like the Packers to lay the ‘smackdown’ on the Eagles in a big way in this one to easily cover the NFL betting line as an early pick ‘em.

Expert NFL Pick: Green Bay Packers as a Pick ‘Em

San Diego vs. Kansas City
Chargers -5.5 Points -115
Analysis: Okay NFL pro football gamblers, I know the San Diego Chargers historically struggle on the road at Kansas City, but I’m thinking this AFC West matchup is still a slam dunk selection with the Chargers clearly being the better and more experienced ballclub in this contest.

San Diego went 13-3 SU and a respectable 8-7-1 ATS under Philip Rivers’ leadership last season, compared to Kansas City’s dismal 4-12 SU mark and 7-9 ATS record behind Matt Cassel in 2009.

I know the Bolts have been one of the biggest choke artists in the league in recent seasons, failing to capitalize on the fact that they had the best roster of talent in their conference on several occasions, but at least the Chargers generally wait until the postseason before completely falling apart.

I think the Chargers will look at this early season divisional matchup and see it just for what it is – and excellent opportunity to get off to a great start in their division.

The Chargers went a blistering 7-1 SU on the road last season and a bankroll-boosting 5-3 ATS on the road as well.

Kansas City’s poor season included a horrific 1-7 SU and 2-6 ATS home record and I don’t believe they will be very much improved over last season, it at all.

Either way, I just don’t see the San Diego Chargers losing this contest – or failing to cover the NFL betting line.

Expert NFL Pick: Chargers -5.5 Points
