NFL Futures – Owens vs. Ochocinco Debuts With Hall of Fame Game Sunday!

August 6, 2010

The NFL is all about its wide receiver tandems and the newest, big name couple is in Cincinnati. The Bengals took a swing for the fences by signing Terrell Owens to join forces with Carson Palmer and Chad Ochocinco, and while this may not lead to a Super Bowl XLV appearance like the Bengals are hoping, it’s surely going to be a fun duo to keep track of during the regular season.

Want to make it even more fun? Bet on it. We have NFL props listings where Ochocinco has the inside track on his newest teammate in the form of Ochocinco and TO Specials.

The newest NFL receiver tag team will have Antonio Bryant and Andre Caldwell stealing touches, but if you’re itching to see how this odd couple fares, you’ll get a preview at the Hall of Fame Game in Canton Ohio. The Bengals are -3.0 favorites in that game against Dallas, but who is the favorite in the battle between Ochocinco and Owens?

More Regular Season TD’s (Ochocinco -130 / Owens -110)
It’s no secret that Owens has been far more productive in the endzone over the course of his career. He’s averaged 10.2 touchdowns per NFL betting season over the course of 14 years. In comparison, Ochocinco has only managed 6.9 scores per season.

In fact, as good as you may think #85 is, Ochocinco has only scored double-digit receiving touchdowns once in his career. Also, the biggest reason to bet against Chad in this prop is that he’s the one that opponents are going to double-team. Owens will be left open, and despite what you think about his hands, Palmer has one of the best deliveries amongst all the top NFL quarterbacks.

Owens amassed 38 touchdowns with Romo in three years. Think about what kind of damage he can do with Palmer as the number-two guy.

Who Will Get More Fines (Ochocinco -110 / Owens -130)
There are two other props suggesting that Owens will get benched, arrested and traded first but this is the most realistic of the wonky props on this special listing. The truth about T.O. is that he’s on his last legs at 38-years old, and he knows it. He’ll be on his best behavior.

On the flip side, if the Bengals start to recreate the stunning season they managed last year, he’ll be up to all his old antics. Sending FedEx packages to opposing defenses, while orchestrating dances and prop-filled celebrations undoubtedly become part of Ochocinco’s season. That means fines, fines and more fines for the renamed receiver.

Furious Free Pick – Owens -130

More Receptions in Regular Season (Ochocinco -135 / Owens -105)
This is one category that Chad can surely dominate. Even with double and single coverage, Ochocinco has averaged 5.2 catches per game in the past five seasons. Owens has only had 4.8 catches per game and has had a bad case of the dropsies over the last two years. If you’re throwing crap against the wall in this special betting prop, then there’s no way you can ignore Chad’s harmony with Carson Palmer.
