The Titans dropped their last two as they visited San Diego and Miami, but they looked especially awful against the Dolphins and disappointed many NFL betting fans.
Kerry Collins started as the quarterback in the 9-17 loss in Miami, but he had to be taken out of the game with a calf injury, so expect Vince Young to be the starter against the Redskins. Also, consider that Randy Moss caught only one pass against the Dolphins, but keep in mind that Young has a better long pass than Collins, so we are going to find out how he can take advantage of Moss down the field.
Despite that the Titans are second to last in passing yards, they will face a defense that is second to last defending the pass, so I expect the Titans passing game to win the battle.
Sports betting fanatics don’t expect much from Donovan McNabb and the Skins offense because their O-line is horrible and the Titans D-line is one of the best in the business, if not the best. Against the Eagles, McNabb was intercepted and sacked twice, but he was hurried enough to make him turn the ball over.
The betting trends say Tennessee is 36-15 ATS vs. NFC, 8-1 ATS in non-conference games and 3-0 ATS against NFC East division opponents and 15-4 ATS since 1992. Washington is 0-3 ATS after playing on Monday night football 2-5 in non-conference games. Four of four games in this series have gone over the total since 1992.
In the end, the Titans should win because their defensive line will eat McNabb alive, but also because their receiving crew will take advantage of an unsteady Washington secondary.
Simmons’ pick: Take the Titans to cover.
