NFL Football Picks Week 2 – NFL Bets to Play Now

September 16, 2010

NFL Week 2 is ready to go after a great opening week of upsets, blowouts, and controversy. These first few weeks can often times defy logic, so the betting process involves more than just numbers. When making NFL Bets early, you must pick your games carefully.

Baltimore Ravens (-2) at Cincinnati Bengals (+2)- Sunday, September 19, 1:00 ET

Is this a joke? You know those NFL betting lines you look at and think “LOCK” right away because it looks too good to be true, then you remember that one time that this kind of play actually was too good and you lost your wad on it? Well, this is not the same thing. This isn’t too good to be true. It is just too good.

The Ravens are coming off a big win where they held the Jets to 174 yards and six first downs. They won’t do that again against the Bengals, but they will shut them down.

New England shut down the Bengals 24-3 first half and went up 31-3 on the third quarter kickoff last week. Cincinnati Bengals got to get their scrub points on while giving padded stats to Ocho and Owens, Batman and Robin, Cheez and Whiz.

I don’t know about you old Chum, but I don’t think Ray Lewis and company are going to allow these two caped crusaders to fly by them. NFL Football Picks are not based on comic book characters.

The Bengals went 2-0 against the Baltimore Ravens last year and have an eight game winning streak against divisional opponents, but this streak is about to end. They will be lucky to go 3-3 in their division this year.

This line has already gone up, so get on it before it goes to -3. As long as Baltimore isn’t looking ahead to next week worrying about the Cleveland Browns (ha-ha), this one is a winner.

NFL Bets Week 2 – Wager on Baltimore Ravens -2

Miami Dolphins (+5.5) at Minnesota Vikings (-5.5) – Sunday 9/19 1:00 ET

Minnesota has 10 days from that sleeper loss to the Saints until this home game against the Miami Dolphins. There is no way anybody on that team, especially Favre, can be fatigued after that conservative play calling.

The defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints only scored 14 points against this defense. How many points can Chad Henne and the Dolphins hope for after only posting 15 points against Buffalo last week?

Ricky and Ronnie will get plenty of touches trying to establish the running game, but with Brandon Marshall double teamed what else can they do? Don’t forget about Minnesota’s Williams brothers clogging up the line.

Karlos Dansby was a great addition to the Dolphins defense, and will be a playmaker again this week. He just doesn’t have enough backup to shut down Brett Favre (the Gunslinger) and Adrian Peterson (All Day) all day long.

If nothing else convinces you, the Minnesota Vikings will never forget that 24-7 loss in Super Bowl VIII. They’re probably watching those game tapes as we speak….on a projector…..in black and white……with no sound……. But seriously, place this wager before Vikings go to minus six.

NFL Bets Week 2 – Wager on Minnesota Vikings -5.5

Houston Texans -3 over Washington Redskins +3 – Sunday September 16, 4:15 ET

There are so many relationships between these coaching staffs that it will be like a family reunion with the fights. They’re both coming off winning upsets.

Houston Texans just became one of the elite NFL teams with the development of a solid running game named Arian Foster. They also dominated the Indianapolis Colts who they were 1-15 against before this game.

The Redskins had a great opening week in their own right. They took down many people’s (not mine) pick to win the NFC Conference with a stingy defense. Dallas looked flat though, and the Texans have firepower everywhere.

McNabb should have a worthy day passing against the Texans mediocre secondary, but don’t expect too much from Clinton Portis and their rushing offense.

The bottom line here is that Washington Redskins had huge plays to close each half. I’m not taking away their victory for this, but it’s not going to happen against Houston. They would need four plays like that to beat this team.

NFL Bets Week 2 – Wager on Houston Texans -3

These are all plays that the line is moving or will move against the bettor. That is why I am saying to get on all three of these NFL Bets before that happens and take advantage of early betting.
