NFL Expert Picks – Full Playoff Breakdown with Super Bowl XLIV Winner

January 8, 2010

Trying to pick a perfect NFL playoff bracket is difficult stuff, but when you’ve being doing for years, you know a thing or two about picking winners. Here is my full NFL Playoff pick list all the way up to Super Bowl XLIV.

AFC Wild Card: #4 Cincinnati Bengals (10-6) vs. #5 New York Jets (9-7) The Jets pummeled the Bengals in Week 17 by the count of 37-0. But now, rookie QB Mark Sanchez has to hit the road. Can he get it done?

The Pick: New York Jets

AFC Wild Card: #3 New England Patriots (10-6) vs. #6 Baltimore Ravens (9-7) The Ravens narrowly squeaked into the playoffs by taking out Oakland on Sunday. New England beat Baltimore 27-21 on October 4th. Survey says…

The Pick: New England Patriots

NFC Wild Card: #3 Dallas Cowboys (11-5) vs. #6 Philadelphia Eagles (11-5) Dallas has had Philadelphia’s number this year, winning 20-16 in Philly and 24-0 at home. Is the third time the charm for the Eagles?

The Pick: Dallas Cowboys

NFC Wild Card: #4 Arizona Cardinals (10-6) vs. #5 Green Bay Packers (11-5) Last weekend, the Packers handed the Cardinals a miserable 33-7 loss to close out the regular season. That game was of zero consequence to either squad, but momentum is on the Pack’s side. In the rematch, the Green Bay gets it done again.

The Pick: Green Bay Packers

AFC Divisional: #1 Indianapolis Colts (14-2) vs. #5 New York Jets (10-7) The only reason that the Jets made it to the playoffs was because the Colts laid down for them in the regular season. QB Peyton Manning is licking his chops at the prospects of facing this team again. Its payback time

The Pick: Indianapolis Colts

AFC Divisional: #2 San Diego Chargers (13-3) vs. #3 New England Patriots (11-6) The game that everyone wants to see! QB Tom Brady will lead his team into battle against the smoking hot Chargers. This is going to be an upset when the line comes out, which means more profits for you.

The Pick: New England Patriots

NFC Divisional: #1 New Orleans Saints (13-3) vs. #5 Green Bay Packers (12-5) This is an interesting battle that many people would not predict. The Saints won 13 straight games before losing their last three. Green Bay may be the hottest team in the NFL, going 7-1 SU and 7-0-1 ATS in its L/8 heading into the postseason.

The Pick: Green Bay Packers

NFC Divisional: #2 Minnesota Vikings (12-4) vs. #3 Dallas Cowboys (12-5) Anyone who had invested in the Cowboys from playoffs past may scoff at the selection of Dallas in the Wild Card round over Philadelphia. Well at least they’re going to win one game.

The Pick: Minnesota Vikings

AFC Championship: #1 Indianapolis Colts (15-2) vs. #3 New England Patriots (12-6) Who says there isn’t poetic justice? HC Bill Belichick may get another chance to make that same 4th and 2 call that backfired in his face. If he turns up aces and converts, will anyone question his thought process this time around?

The Pick: New England Patriots

NFC Championship: #2 Minnesota Vikings (13-4) vs. #5 Green Bay Packers (13-5) Speaking of setting up some history! Was there ever a point in the last two decades where you thought Favre would be playing against the Packers for the right to go the Super Bowl? I say Green Bay gets sweet revenge for the lambasting Favre laid on the Pack this year.

The Pick: Green Bay Packers

Super Bowl XLIV: #3 New England Patriots (13-6) vs. #5 Green Bay Packers (14-5) It isn’t exactly what was expected at the start of the postseason, but, the Packers and Pats will duke it out in a rematch of the SB XXXI. This game is going to be significant as it will be Aaron Rodgers coming out party as Tom Brady passes the torch to the next great QB.

The Pick: Green Bay Packers (+2000 to win Super Bowl XLIV)
