NFL Expert Picks – Dallas Cowboys vs. Denver Broncos
October 4, 2009
Game-day: 10/4/2009
Kick-off: 4:15 pm EST
The Dallas Cowboys travel to Denver to take on the Broncos in a game that should be extremely close. NFL bettors are going to have to really think hard about this match up because neither the ‘Boys nor the Broncos have looked exemplary yet in 2009.
Dallas beat the Carolina Panthers last Sunday but it wasn’t that convincing, while the Broncos haven’t really faced the best of the best in the AFC yet. This is a nice inter-conference game that poses a challenge to NFL gamblers.
Here are the BetOnline online sportsbook NFL odds for this game.
Dallas Cowboys -3 -105 -150 O 42 ½ -110
Denver Broncos +3 -115 +130 U 42 ½ -110
Here are a few online betting trends for this game.
- The Dallas Cowboys are 2 and 5 ATS in their last 7 games on the road.
- The Dallas Cowboys are 1 and 4 ATS versus a team with a winning record.
- The Denver Broncos are 5 and 13 against the spread versus a team with a winning record.
- The Denver Broncos are 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games at home.
The Denver Broncos are a very deep team at the running back position. Both Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhatlter have done terrific things in the Denver backfield. With their running game going so well, the Broncos are 4 th in the league on the ground, teams have to put an 8 th man in the box. That allows Kyle Orten to pick and choose his spots.
Believe it or not, every single person who decried the Broncos for making the ridiculous moves they did in the off-season, should be apologizing to first year coach Josh McDaniels right about now.
McDaniels has pushed all of the right buttons so far in 2009 as Denver is 3 and 0.
When it comes to Dallas, the ‘Boys have a couple of issues. First, they are definitely talented, but often times their quarterback, Tony Romo, makes a mistake that will hurt them. Then, if he doesn’t make a mistake, their defense fails to live up to the hype. In this game, the Cowboys will have to start Tashard Choice at running back as both Felix Jones and Marion Barber are hurt.
The truth is that Dallas can be soft defensively. Bettors should expect the Broncos to take advantage of that and to run the ‘Boys into the ground. I see the Broncos winning this game straight up as home dogs.
The bet is on Denver to beat Dallas straight up at +130 on the money line.
