Heading into this weekend’s NFL betting, there isn’t any team in more desperate need of a win than the San Francisco 49ers.

It’ll be a quick turnaround for the 49ers, who lost on Monday night to the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints. And if they’re to get their first win of the season, San Francisco better figure out their quarterback play…in a hurry!
There might not be a more nerve wracking quarterback to wager on in the NFL betting than the 49ers Alex Smith, who through two games has struggled, and fans are starting to wonder if he should be the guy to lead this team. The former No. 1 overall pick is completing close to 64 percent of his passes, but has also thrown just four interceptions to one touchdown, in San Francisco’s two losses.
Luckily though, if Monday night’s loss proved anything, it’s that the 49ers running game is back on track thanks to Frank Gore. Gore has rushed for 1,000 yards for four straight years now, but got off to a slow start in Week 1 in Seattle. He responded about as nicely as anyone could’ve hoped for though, as he rushed for 112 yards and his first touchdown of the year Monday night.
If there was a silver lining in defeat for the 49ers, it was the play of Gore.
As for Kansas City, they’re a surprising 2-0, and have been a darling for those who’ve wagered on them in the NFL betting, going 2-0 ATS so far this year.
While neither of their wins have been particularly pretty, to their credit, Kansas City is getting it done in all three phases of the game: Offense, defense and special teams.
The Chiefs won in Week 1 with some big returns from Javier Arenas and Dexter McCluster and were victorious in large part because of an interception return for a touchdown, and field goal kicking in Week 2. Again, all three phases of the game.
On offense, while quarterback Matt Cassel hasn’t been great (completing just 53 percent of his passes), he does appear to have found a go to receiver in rookie tight end Tony Moeaki. The first year player out of Iowa leads this team with eight catches on the young season. Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones split carries out of the backfield.
After careful debate, the pick to make in this weekend’s NFL Betting is the San Francisco 49ers. Get your wager in today!
First off, there has to be at least a little cause for concern if you’re a Chiefs fan. Even though this team is 2-0, they could just as easily be 0-2. Eventually the defensive and special teams plays will dry up, and they’ll need Cassel to make plays. So far he’s given little reason for excitement, with just one touchdown and two interceptions.
More importantly though, what this really comes down to is desperation. San Fran has already dug themselves a pretty deep hole at 0-2, and has virtually no margin for error from this point forward. Even traveling West to East, they’re going to establish the running game early, and find a way to get the win.
San Francisco may be 0-2, but they’ll look like the 2-0 team Sunday. Make them your NFL Betting pick!
The Pick: San Francisco -2 ½
