NFL Betting – St. Louis Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers

November 14, 2010

Get ready for NFL betting in the NFC West. This Week 10 matchup features Frank Gore and the 49ers hosting the St. Louis Rams. While it might not be the most exciting game of the week, it is a great way to make some cash during the late afternoon games.

Sunday, November 14 @ 4:15pm EST on FOX

Odds: St. Louis Rams (+6) vs. San Francisco 49ers (-6)
Total: 38.5

The Rams have been a highly profitable team this season. While they’re 4-4 SU on the year, they are 6-2 ATS. Sam Bradford has proven himself a legit quarterback and Steven Jackson continues to run the ball well. They’re tied with the Seahawks for the lead in the division.

As the 49ers have had issues on offense. They are 18th in passing yards and 21st on the ground. They have won 2 of their last 3 (including the matchup against Denver in London) but opened up the season with 5 disappointing losses.

These two teams have played UNDER the total in 7 of their last 8 games. The NFC West is far from a powerful division and these two teams haven’t been lighting up the scoreboard. The Rams have only been part of two OVER games this season and are averaging 17.5 points per game. The 49ers are averaging slightly fewer points and giving up more.

The 49ers are coming off their bye week, so will be prepared for the Rams – but should be totally outclassed. St. Louis is averaging a much higher time of possession and will look to control the clock as much as possible on the road. With a dedicated push on the run, and Bradford making smart throws, they will be able to dictate the pace and style of play.

While 38.5 is a low total, I would be more apt to play the UNDER in this matchup than rely on both of these teams to put up enough points to push it over.

NFL Betting Free Pick:

The Rams have covered 6 of their last 7 games and are getting a generous spread in this matchup. The two teams have been scoring at a similar pace, but St. Louis has been flat-out playing better. Take the points and the better team in this game as the Rams will win straight up, and obviously cover.
