As crazy as it sounds, yes this game is crucial for each. With the Patriots and Jets sitting atop this division, both these teams need a win here to make a serious playoff push.
Let’s start with Miami, because out of everyone this off-season, the Dolphins quietly may have made the biggest splash.

While this team has been known for their running game these last few years (they ranked fourth in the NFL last year, with 139 yards/game), it was their passing attack which got a major upgrade in the winter months.

In to help quarterback Chad Henne, comes the enigmatic, but always exciting Brandon Marshall. Marshall may have worn his welcome thin in Denver, but there’s no doubt he can play, as the 6’3 Marshall had 101 catches a year ago, tying him with Andre Johnson for third in the league. Add him to a potent offense that already includes stud running backs Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, and it’s easy to see why the Dolphins are a surprise pick of many to win this division.

But if you’re looking for a football betting pick that’s a little bit off the board, the Bills might be your play this weekend.

Much like Miami, they come into this one with a power running game that must be respected. While it’s easy to get excited about Fred Jackson (who rushed for 1,062 yards last year), there is reason to be concerned, as he might not play Sunday because of injury. Of course that only means more carries for do-it-all back C.J. Spiller, the ninth pick in the last NFL Draft. Spiller was an All-American at Clemson last year, and will be used in the running game, passing game, and even to occasionally return kicks and punts. He is the type of talent that Bills have lacked for years now, with the ability to turn any play into a touchdown.

However, when evaluating the football betting pick here, the key will be quarterback, and right now the Dolphins have the better one. Therefore, when making your wager, take Henne and the Dolphins.

Buffalo’s Trent Edwards isn’t terrible, but at the same time, there’s a reason that the Bills ranked just 30th in the NFL in passing last year. And that was with Terrell Owens. With T.O. now in Cincinnati, there is one less target to throw to, and will only put added pressure on the running game.

Henne on the other hand wasn’t great last year, but at the very least has a new toy in Marshall to play with. Look for the 2,878 yards he threw for last year to improve dramatically.

It’s a must-win game in Buffalo for both teams Sunday afternoon, but in the end, look for the Dolphins to come out on top.

Take Miami, on the road in some exciting NFL betting action!

The Pick: Miami -3
