NFL Betting – Regular Season Wins Part II – NFC Conference

August 3, 2010

I’ve already looked at the AFC Conference in terms of regular season wins.  Now, it’s time to look at the NFC Conference. The NFL betting sportsbook has over/under totals along with odds for each and every NFC Conference team.

Check out the NFL odds below for each team in the NFC Conference and my predictions on whether or not they will go over or under their total number of listed games.

NFC Conference:  Regular Season Wins

Minnesota Vikings Over 9 ½ -135 vs. Under 9 ½  +105 – - I’m going Under with the Vikings.  I know, I know…they should have won the NFC Championship last season, but last season they had an easy schedule.  This season, the schedule is ridiculously difficult.  I’m going under.

New Orleans Saints Over 10 ½ Ev vs. Under 10 ½ -130 – - Besides playing Tampa Bay twice, the Saints play Cleveland, Seattle and St. Louis this season.  Does it get any easier than that?  I think not.  Over for sure.

Atlanta Falcons Over 9 -145 vs. Under 9 +115 – - Their schedule isn’t all that difficult either.  They should be an 11 and 5 team based on the schedule, but I’m not sold on their defensive backs and the NFL odds are grossly in favor of the Over.  I have to go Under because of those odds.

Carolina Panthers Over 7 ½ +115 vs. Under 7 ½ -145 – - I actually believe that they might be better than Atlanta in the NFC South.  I have more faith in their D and their QB situation is pretty good now.  So, I’m going to go Over and try to score with those nice +115 odds.

Chicago Bears Over 8 -110 vs. Under 8 -120 – - I’m not a fan of the Peppers’ signing at all.  Now, two crybabies, Julius Peppers on defense and Jay Cutler on offense, make up this team.  I think the defense is worse this season.  The schedule is ridiculous.  I’m going Under, baby!

Detroit Lions Over 5 -140 vs. Under 5 +110 – - Even with the tough schedule, I believe that the Lions beat Chicago twice and upset either Green Bay or Minnesota once. That’s 3 victories right there.  Then, they take down St. Louis, Buffalo and Tampa Bay.  There’s your 6 victories.  Over.

New York Giants Over 8 ½ -125 vs. Under 8 ½ -105 – - One has to believe that the G-Men wrestle at least 9 victories out of their difficult schedule.  I mean, the signing of Antrel Rolle to play safety gives them at least 1 more victory than they had in 2009.  So, 8 +1 = 9.  Over.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Over 5 ½ -140 vs. Under 5 ½ +110 – - Under.  The Bucs have absolutely no way of winning more than 5 games this season.  I mean, they’re just not a very good team.  Who are they going to beat?  Okay, maybe Cleveland, St. Louis and Detroit and Detroit is a “maybe” victory.  It’s a bad time to be a Bucs’ fan.

Arizona Cardinals Over 7 ½ -125 vs. Under 7 ½ -105 – - NFL odds makers have no faith in Cardinals’ QB Matt Leinart.  I do, actually, and believe that Arizona wins the NFC West, not San Francisco.  So, I’m going with the Over.

Green Bay Packers Over 9 ½ -160 vs. Under 9 ½ +130 – - The schedule is absolutely brutal, but are they better than Minnesota?  That’s the main question.  Either the Vikings or Packers are going to win 10 games this season and make the playoffs.  Maybe, the Packers win only 9 games and make the playoffs.  Hmm…I’m going Under to hedge my Vikings’ bet.

Philadelphia Eagles Over 8 ½ Ev vs. Under 8 ½ -130- – I’ve been debating with myself all summer on whether or not the Eagles were going to challenge for the NFC East title.  I’m beginning to believe that they might because Kevin Kolb is a decent QB and the defense is better than a lot of NFL fans think it is.  I’m gong to go ahead and go Over.

San Francisco 49’ers Over 8 ½ -170 vs. Under 8 ½ +140 – - Everybody believes that the Niners’ D is going to be great.  I’m not “everybody”.  To me, the D will be okay, not great and the offense will be okay, not great.  So, I see San Francisco as an okay but not great team.  8 and 8 seems probable.  Under.

Seattle Seahawks Over 7 ½ +105 vs. Under 7 ½ -135 – - Pete Carroll isn’t a miracle worker.  I just don’t know where the 8 victories are going to come from.  I’ve got them winning 7 games.  That ½ a game makes me think Under in regards to the ‘Hawks.

St. Louis Rams Over 5 Ev vs. Under 5 -130 – - There is no way that the Rams can win 5 games this season.  Zero.  I don’t see where they win 3 games this season.  Okay, they might beat Oakland.  They might beat Tampa Bay, but Seattle beats them twice and K.C. is much, much better than they are this season.  I’m betting the Under.

Dallas Cowboys Over 10 -125 vs. Under 10 -105 – - 10 games is a lot but I’ve got tons of faith in this Cowboys team.  They should win at least 11 games this season.  I’m betting Over.

Washington Redskins Over 7 ½ -105 vs. Under 7 ½ -125 – - I’ve got them listed for 7 victories without a problem.  After that, they may need to upset a team to get to 8, but I believe they are fully capable of doing that.  With Donovan McNabb and coach Mike Shanahan in the fold, Washington has a good shot of upsetting the balance in the NFC East and grabbing a playoff spot this season.  I’m going Over.
