NFL Betting Odds Week 3: Titans vs Jets

September 25, 2009

Tennessee 0-2 (Road: 0-1) 1:00pm ET

NY Jets 2-0 (Home: 1-0) TV: CBS

The two point favorites and undefeated NY Jets host the winless Tennessee Titans at 1 PM ET at Giants Stadium.

Rex Ryan and his boys sent a big message to the rest of the league when they upset Tom Brady and the New England Patriots last week. People are considering them now as the number one contender on AFC East division.

They have one of the best defenses in the league, allowing 482 yards while not giving up a touchdown from the air in back to back games for the first time since 1993.

The defensive unit held the Patriots to 254 yards and hit quarterback Tom Brady 23 times.

In addition the offense has managed to move the ball as well. Rookie QB Mark Sanchez has completed 60.4 percent of his passes for 435 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

The numbers does not look that good on the Titans side. They are the worst pass defense in the league, they didn’t’ collect any sacks last week and gave up 678 by air from the total 777 yards they allowed allowed.

The Titans are off to a surprising start, losing their first two games by three point margins. They haven’t opened 0-3 since losing their first five of 2006.

Obviously the offense will be praying that RB Chris Johnson has a repeat performance from last week when he racked up 197 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries and caught nine passes for 87 yards and a touchdown.

Despite all the numbers being against the Titans; this is not a 0-3 team. I’ll bet Coach Fisher is making the adjustments to handle Mark Sanchez and the rest of the Jets.

NFL Betting Odds:

Tennessee Titans +2 -110
NY Jets -2 -110
O/U 37 -110

My pick: Big upset by the Titans, they’ll win by 3. Under.
