The Vikings fired Brad Childress during the week and Leslie Frazier was named the new intern head coach. He will keep his defensive coordinator duties but it’s been said he will give Brett Favre control of the offense, something that Childress refused to do.

Favre seems like every week he has been attacked by something new because besides his ankle injury, as in addition to his personal issues now he has been dealing with the flu during the week. The Vikings were crushed 31-3 by the Packers last week and it was the third time in the season where the 41-year-old quarterback didn’t throw a touchdown pass.

Brett’s season has been as awful although it was wonderful last season; so far he is only ahead of Matt Moore in the passer rating rankings with 69.8, as he has thrown 10 TDs and 17 interceptions.

On the other hand, the Washington Redskins are coming off a big overtime win against the Tennessee Titans 19-16 last week where QB Donovan McNabb threw for 376 yards and a touchdown.

The Skins running game has taken some serious hits this season as they lost Clinton Portis for the season and Ryan Torain is dealing with a hamstring injury. Keiland Williams will be the go-to-guy against Vikes.

Keep in mind these betting trends: Washington is 1-7 ATS after a game w/ 50+ pass attempts, 5-1 ATS in games played on a grass field but 3-9 ATS as a favorite. Minnesota is 2-8 ATS in all games, 0-6 ATS as an underdog, 0-5 ATS in road games and 3-10 ATS in games played on a grass field.

Simmons’ pick: Take Washington.
