NFL Betting Odds – Bears at Lions
December 3, 2010
An NFC North clash features the five-point favorite Chicago Bears visiting the Detroit Lions this Sunday at 1 PM ET at Ford Field.
NFL Betting Odds:
Chicago Bears -5
Detroit Lions +5
O/U 44
In the first week of the season, the NFL betting fans who took the Lions over the Bears straight up wanted to kill themselves after Calvin Johnson caught a last second touchdown pass that was overruled by the referees because the wider receiver didn’t stand up with the ball in his hands, a stupid rule that affected everybody.
The Bears arrive to this game after a great win against the Philadelphia Eagles where their defense completely controlled the QB Michel Vick, sacking him four times and making him commit his first interception of the season.

The two times that the Bears were favorites in the NFL with a spread of 3.5 to 9.5 points this season, they didn’t cover, but you have to keep in mind that Drew Stanton will be the QB for the Lions this weekend and Detroit has failed to cover in the last three straight games.
Chicago is 7-26 ATS in December road games but they arrive to this game playing their best football in the season, as their defense is forcing turnovers and especially Jay Cutler is avoiding looking stupid on the field, meaning he stopped throwing interceptions.
Detroit is 14-4 ATS off a home loss by 21+ points, but the addition of Stanton to the lineup doesn’t make the Lions a good bet because you don’t know what you’re getting with this guy…actually you do know and are not great things.
The only time the Lions played against a team with a winning record in the second half of the season that they didn’t cover the spread was last week when they hosted the Patriots on Thanksgiving.
Simmons’ pick: take the Bears to cover.
