San Francisco: -1

Total: 41 ½

Those two teams are the struggling Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers, and boy were they bad last weekend!

Denver in particular is coming off not only its worst game of the year, but one of its worst games in franchise history. Is their 59-14 loss last weekend to Oakland enough to bet against them in your NFL in London pick? It just might be. In that game, everything that could go wrong for Denver did, as Oakland put up 34 first half points and over 508 yards of offense in the win.

While the Broncos defense certainly needs some work, their offense does too, and it all starts with quarterback Kyle Orton. Last weekend Orton was terrible, as the veteran completed just 12 of 29 passes for 198 yards, his lowest output of the year. The most surprising thing about his performance is that Orton has actually been pretty good this year, as he’s thrown for 2,149 yards and 11 touchdowns.

As for San Francisco, they come into this battle at Wembley Stadium off a disappointing game of their own.

In that contest, the 49ers traveled across country, and lost to the previously winless Carolina Panthers. A bad season went even worse for San Francisco, as quarterback Alex Smith was injured, and replaced by David Carr. It appears as though, little used Troy Smith will get the start Sunday. One of the few bright spots for the 49ers, is that the San Francisco running game has shown signs of life in recent weeks, as running back Frank Gore has gone over back-to-back 100 yard games, his first in 2010.

With each of these teams needing a win, who will be the victor, in this Football in London showdown? Take the Broncos.

While San Francisco has struggled all year, Denver’s loss against Oakland last Sunday was totally out of character. Sometimes teams just have those days, and for the Raiders, Sunday was one of them. They literally couldn’t do anything wrong, and Denver nothing right.

Don’t expect another poor performance from Denver on Sunday. They still rank in the Top 10 in the NFL in offense (358 yards per game), and should be able to put up points on this struggling San Francisco defense. The 49ers are allowing 23 points per game, which puts them at 23rd out 32 NFL teams. And with Smith in this lineup, expect the woeful 49ers offense to struggle just as much as they have all year.

With the NFL in London back, it’s time to get your gambling wager in, as football will be back at Wembley Stadium.

Take the Broncos over the 49ers as your weekend pick.
