To Win AFC South
Indianapolis Colts (-150)
Retaining talent is the key to repeat success in the NFL, and the Colts have proven to be great at it.
By keeping the receiving corps intact, Manning will continue his quest to be considered amongst the best quarterbacks of all-time (if he isn’t already).
Last season, the Colts dominated their opponents for most of the season, posting a 14-0 record before letting their starters take a breather for the last couple of weeks.
Indianapolis reached the Super Bowl for the second time in four years but was defeated by the New Orleans Saints. An uncharacteristic interception from Manning in the 4th quarter sealed the Colts fate.
This NFL betting season, Manning and the Colts will be searching for redemption from their disheartening Super Bowl loss.
The AFC South division title is pretty much guaranteed for the Colts, as Indy has won six of the last seven AFC South division titles and no one in the division has made enough improvements to compete with them this year.
The Houston Texans are probably the biggest threat to Colts but, even with the league’s number one passing attack, the Texans are showing signs that they won’t be in full form for the start of the 2010-11 football betting season.
There are questions at running back. With an injury/fumble-prone Steve Slaton, Houston is hoping that rookie Ben Tate can shoulder the rushing load.
Furthermore, Houston’s defense proved it is nothing more than average by allowing 333 points to opposing offenses (17th in the NFL).
Houston finished with a 1-5 divisional record last season, losing twice to the Indianapolis Colts.
What’s more, the Texans were also dealt the most difficult schedule in the league this football betting season.
The Tennessee Titans, meanwhile, are having a great deal of trouble filling defensive gaps vacated by free agency.
The Titans lost many of their key defensive starters due to contract issues and it reflected in their play last season (Tennessee gave up the most points in the division and second-most in the AFC).
Furthermore, much like Houston, the NFL has cursed the Titans with the second hardest schedule in the league.
Finally, the Jacksonville Jaguars seem to have the potential to contend for a second-place seed in the division but, aren’t quite ready to compete on the Colts level.
Even with outstanding running back Maurice Jones-Drew, the offense was mediocre at best. The Jags placed 10th in the league in rushing and 15th in passing last season.
Also, their defense hasn’t made any improvements, after giving up 235.9 passing yards per game (27th in the NFL) and 380 total points (24th) in 2009.
NFL Betting Expert Prediction: Pick the Indianapolis Colts with confidence to win the AFC South (-150).
With a divisional victory and first round bye in the playoffs, they should, at the very least, reach the AFC Conference Final (+200) in the playoffs.
Do you think the New Orleans Saints (+225) will reach the NFC Conference Final again? Bet on it here!
