NFL Betting – Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks Betting Preview
December 5, 2010
This NFL Betting matchup features two teams coming off losses last week. The Carolina Panthers are on their second road game in a row, while the Seattle Seahawks are playing their second in a row at Qwest Field. Let’s get the odds for this wagering matchup.
Sunday, December 5 @ 4:15pm EST on FOX
NFL Football Odds: Carolina Panthers (+6) vs. Seattle Seahawks (-6)
Total: 40
In last week’s games, the Panthers missed a last second field goal in a loss to the Browns, while the Seahawks were out of contention from the first quarter. These might be two of the worst teams in the league. Carolina is a dreadful 1-10 and the Seahawks are 5-6 SU and ATS.
The Seahawks will try to rebound from a tough home loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. Seattle usually enjoys a significant home advantage – and they hope that will come into play this week against the struggling Panthers.

The Panthers are winless on the road and are a brutal 3-8 against the spread. They are averaging only 12.7 points/game. In the highly competitive NFC South, the Panthers are far so far out of contention, they’ve got nothing left to play for but pride. Seattle, on the other hand, is tied for first place in the NFC West. Their weak division enhances their win column – and their shot at making the post season. If they want to squeak in, this is a must-win game.
If Seattle wants to cover this spread, they will need to do it through the air. Their running game has been non-existent, going for roughly 78 yards/game. They have a slightly better pass game – netting over 220 yards/game. The Panthers offense is worse than that – getting only 157 passing yards (spread amongst three different starting QBs on the year).
Seattle games have hit the Under in 6-2-2 of their last 10 as a favorite. This is mainly because when Seattle is favored, they are playing a team with an ineffective offense. On the season, Seattle has played 7 of 11 on the Over.
Seattle hasn’t lost twice in a row at home this year and I don’t expect them to now. Getting the Seahawks by less than a touchdown at home against one of the worst offensive teams in the league is a great bet.
This is a great chance to make some cash during the late afternoon games on Sunday. NFL betting isn’t always easy, but this is a straight forward call.
