NFL Betting Breakdown – Failures to Address Issues Already Evident for Several NFC Teams

September 7, 2010

The start of the 2010 NFL betting regular season is just days away from getting started pro football betting enthusiasts, but after watching nearly every team in the league this season – I’ve already come to some crystal-clear conclusions about several NFC teams and their respective failures to address their individual team needs.

That’s right pro football lovers, a handful of NFC teams will kick off their 2010 campaigns with at least one serious area of need that they visibly failed to address this offseason – and will now have to deal with, likely all season long.

This pro football betting breakdown article will give NFL gambling fans the inside scoop on which NFC teams face an uphill battle to overcome their own shortcomings.

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys – The Cowboys didn’t do enough to upgrade it offensive line – and their lack of depth showed all preseason long.

New York Giants – The Giants have some question marks at linebacker and in the defensive secondary that could derail their postseason plans.

Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles aren’t very talented along the offensive line and have almost no credible depth here and in their young defensive secondary.

Washington Redskins – Washington is starting 38-year-old veteran Joey Galloway at wide receiver, so clearly, Washington has problems at wide receiver.

NFC West

San Francisco 49ers – The 49ers needed to address their offensive line issues from last season and they did in a big way by drafting two offensive linemen in the first round that will start right away.

St. Louis Rams – The Rams have a young offensive line that will undoubtedly suffer its ups and downs this season – and I don’t know it they surrounded rookie quarterback Sam Bradford with enough quality receivers.

Arizona Cardinals – The Cardinals foolishly passed on Marc Bulger and Donovan McNabb in favor of Derek Anderson and the recently-released Matt Leinart. Big mistake Ken Whisenhunt!

Seattle Seahawks – The Seahawks had the best draft of any team in the league and will be really young this season. Still, the Seahawks have some issues on defense, mostly along the defensive line.

NFC North

Chicago Bears – The Bears are mediocre at best across the offensive line and looked mostly awful in pass protection during the preseason. The Bears also failed to get a veteran wide receiver for quarterback Jay Cutler this offseason.

Detroit Lions – The Lions are clearly headed in the right direction, but still have some serious holes at linebacker and in the defensive backfield they might want to try and address once all the final cuts have been made.

Minnesota Vikings – The Vikings don’t really have many areas they need to address, but they will start the regular season with injuries to numerous key players.

Green Bay Packers – The Packers are loaded no both sides of the ball, but I’m going to remain a bit skeptical about their defensive secondary until I see otherwise.

NFC South

New Orleans Saints – The Saints are really solid on both sides of the ball, but the recent injury to veteran safety Darren Sharper could derail the Saints in their quest to win consecutive Super Bowls.

Atlanta Falcons – The Falcons have an absolutely explosive offense, so all of their questions, lie with their defense – particularly the defensive line and what I believe is just a so-so secondary.

Carolina Panthers – The Panthers need to find out quickly if first-time starter Matt Moore is the answer for them at quarterback or not, with young Jimmy Clausen waiting in the wings. I’m also not sure the Panthers have the receivers to compliment Steve Smith. Last but not least, Carolina is very young and untested on defense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Buccaneers are heading in the right direction, but still have a bunch of holes at wide receiver, d-line and in the defensive secondary.
