It won’t be easy, as Baltimore has no choice but to bounce back from a devastating loss last Sunday night at home. In that game, the Ravens led the Steelers 10-3 heading into the fourth quarter, before a furious Pittsburgh rally gave them a 13-10 victory.
In defeat, the problems for Baltimore’s offense continued to manifest themselves, especially in the running game. The Ravens were able to muster up just 43 yards on the ground, including a dismal 32 yards on nine carries for superstar back Ray Rice. It didn’t help that as good as Joe Flacco was early, he couldn’t sustain his solid play for four full quarters. The Ravens went three and out, and had a turnover in their four, fourth quarter possessions.
Meanwhile, in Houston, things aren’t much better. And as we get set to give out NFL Betting Advice, beware of the Texans.
Houston enters this one having lost five of their last six, with the only victory coming over a Tennessee team starting a rookie quarterback.
For the Texans, the problems start on the defensive end, where they’re one of the worst units in the league. On the season, Houston is giving up 388 yards per game, which ranks them 29th in the NFL, as well as allowing 26 points per game, which is 27th.
The one redeeming quality this Houston team does have however is their offense, as the Texans rank in the top 10 in the NFL in both passing and rushing yardage. Quarterback Matt Schaub is having another stellar season, as he’s tossed for just over 3,000 yards and 17 touchdowns, with Andre Johnson once again being his favorite receiver. Johnson has 71 catches, and his 1,018 yards receiving is fourth in the league. Meanwhile back Arian Foster leads the league in rushing with 1,230 yards.
Thinking logically, all that offense should lead to us submitting the Texans to pull the upset as our NFL Betting Advice, right? Wrong. Instead, take Baltimore.
The simple truth is, that as good as the Texans are offensively, rarely do they face the kind of defense that they’ll be going against Sunday afternoon. The Ravens are allowing just 16 points per game, which ranks them fourth in the NFL.
And with the Texans struggling to put up points, that means that Houston will have to get stops on the defensive end. As we mentioned, this is one of the worst units in the league, so don’t expect that to happen.
In the end, Houston simply doesn’t have enough talent on either side of the ball to keep up, and this one could get ugly early. There’s no other NFL Betting Advice to take, other than to back the Ravens.
