September 26, 2010

If you’re looking for some weekend NFL Betting Advice, the place to be is here, the game to watch comes live from Sun Life Stadium Sunday night. That’s where the Miami Dolphins will take on the New York Jets, with first place in the AFC East on the line.

New York Jets (1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) at Miami Dolphins (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS)

Sunday, September 26: 8:30 p.m. NBC, Live from Sun Life Stadium, Miami, FL

NFL Betting Odds:

New York: +1 ½
Miami: -1 ½
Total: 34 ½

The J-E-T-S had a signature win last weekend over New England, and enter this one confident.

If they’re to improve to 2-1, they’ll need quarterback Mark Sanchez to play like he did last week. In that win, “The Sanchize,” was phenomenal, completing 21 of 30 passes for 220 yards and his first three touchdowns of the year. New York also has two good running backs leading their ground game, as LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene combined for 128 yards in the win last weekend.

Of course the Jets signature is and always will be their shutdown defense under head coach Rex Ryan. While they haven’t been great so far, the Jets were good last week, holding the Patriots to zero second half points, and forcing two uncharacteristic Tom Brady interceptions. But when looking for NFL Betting Advice be forewarned, New York will likely be playing without stud cornerback Darrelle Revis this weekend, who’ll be limited with a hamstring injury. That’ll be key with Miami star wide receiver Brandon Marshall coming into his own with the Dolphins.

Speaking of Marshall, he has been the difference in what was once a mediocre passing game, as the former Denver Bronco leads this team with 12 catches for 124 yards. However, as always, the running game has been key for the Dolphins, as they currently rank seventh in the NFL, averaging 126 per game. While neither Ricky Williams nor Ronnie Brown has rushed for over 100 yards in a single game this year, they may be the most deadly 1-2 combination in the league. Beware of that two-headed monster out of the backfield.

However, in the end, the NFL Betting Advice that this writer has to hand out is to take the Jets and the points.

The truth is, that although Miami is 2-0, they haven’t yet seen a defense quite like the Jets. Yes Minnesota’s was good last week, but the Vikings are also banged up and a bit old, and not playing at nearly the level they were a year ago. Also, for all the talk about the Dolphins running game, expect New York to force quarterback Chad Henne to beat them through the air. Henne has looked good so far, but has hardly lit the world on fire, throwing just one touchdown and no interceptions in two games.

More importantly, this New York offense isn’t nearly as bad as some pundits have made it out to be. While they may not be the best unit in the league, they’re still pretty darn good, and as they proved last week, will be able to put up points against most teams. There may have been concern after Week 1, but remember, the Jets were playing Baltimore, which is home to maybe the best defense in the league. Miami may be good, but not good enough to keep the Jets in check like Ravens did two weeks ago.

The NFL Betting Advice is in, and there really is only one pick to make. Take the Jets on the road Sunday night, in some exciting betting action!

The Pick: New York +1 ½
