NFL Betting Advice – Take AZ and the Points vs. Moss-less Vikings

November 7, 2010

My NFL betting advice is for football handicappers to take the Arizona Cardinals and the points versus the Moss-less Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Nov. 7th.

First of all, how do you just go out and cut Randy Moss? Say what? I don’t want to get into it but I wouldn’t be surprised if coach Brad Childress was the next one to leave if the Cardinals can find a way to pull off the upset on Sunday.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, the Vikings should win the game, but they shouldn’t win by 9 points. That’s why my NFL betting advice is to take the points and not to bet on the Cardinals to win straight up.

Arizona Cardinals +9 -110 O 41 -110

Minnesota Vikings -9 -110 U 41 -110

The NFL betting trends favor the Minnesota Vikings in this game.

  • The Arizona Cardinals are 1 and 6 ATS in their last 7 road games.
  • The Arizona Cardinals are 0 and 4 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog on the road.
  • The Minnesota Vikings are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 games as a home favorite.
  • The Minnesota Vikings are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games as the favorite.

The trends aren’t giving me hope that my NFL betting advice on this game is the right advice to give but, then, I remember that we’re talking about old man Favre who would probably prefer to show his you know what to church going females on Sunday instead of playing a football game without Randy Moss on his team.

I can’t believe that an NFL coach would get butt hurt to the point of cutting one of the best wide receivers to ever play the game. Okay, I’ll let it go. In any case, the Vikings still don’t have anybody to catch the ball for them besides Percy Harvin because although the rumor is that Sidney Rice is going to come back to the field soon, it’s doubtful he shows up on Sunday.

Even if he did show up on Sunday, Rice is going to need some time before getting into football shape. So, Percy is out there all by his lonesome again, Favre is struggling to stay on his feet, and RB Adrian Peterson is silently fuming because the Vikings, for some crazy reason, continue to let Brett Favre throw the ball instead of forcing him to hand it off to AP.

So…what’s going on with the Vikings’ D? Not much really. It gives up 20 points per game and 316 total yards and that’s the reason to like the Cardinals in this game. Amazingly, the Cardinals’ offense showed a lot of heart in a 35 to 38 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. QB Derek Anderson replaced Max Hall and threw for 234 yards and a touchdown. Granted, Derek also tossed 2 picks, but he did enough, mainly because wide receivers Steve Breaston and Larry Fitzgerald were on the field at the same time, to keep his team in the game.

If Anderson starts this week, then the Cardinals should definitely keep this game within the number. The bottom line for me, and the reason that my NFL betting advice on this game is to back the Cardinals, is that there are too many questions surrounding the Vikings for me take them at -9.

Minnesota is the better team but, inevitably, they will find a way to lose this game straight up to AZ or at least give AZ hope inside of 4 minutes. That’s just what the Vikings do nowadays.

I’m taking the points and backing the Arizona Cardinals in the sportsbook.
