NFL Betting Advice – Back The Bears On Monday Night
December 20, 2010
Looking for some NFL Betting Advice heading into Monday’s NFC North showdown? You’ve come to the right place, as we get set to preview Bears and Vikings. Who’s your pick?
Chicago Bears (9-4 SU, 6-6-1 ATS) at Minnesota Vikings (5-8 SU, 4-9 ATS)
Monday, December 20: 8:30 p.m. ESPN, Live from TCF Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN
Heading into this matchup, the biggest storyline isn’t actually on the field, but is instead, the field itself. That’s because after a freak accident made the Metrodome unplayable last week, this game was moved to the outdoor stadium where the University of Minnesota football team plays it’s game. The best NFL Betting Advice we can honestly give on this one is, if you’re headed to the stadium, dress warm!
On the field however, questions remain, as at the time of print, we’re still not sure who’ll be quarterback for Minnesota. Last week’s starter Tavaris Jackson is out for the season with a turf toe injury, and no one is quite certain if veteran Brett Favre can play. That leaves veteran Patrick Ramsey in line to start, a guy who hasn’t played in meaningful NFL action in close to two years.
That also means that Minnesota’s running game will need to have a big night, something which might not be a problem thanks to back Adrian Peterson. Simply put, Peterson has been as good as advertised in 2010, rushing for 1,149 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. It should be noted however that Peterson is coming off one of his worst games of the 2010 season. Against New York last Monday night he rushed for just 26 yards on 14 carries.
And things certainly won’t be any easier this weekend against a stellar Chicago defense. The Bears enter this game ranked No. 8 in the NFL in total defense, allowing just 33 yards per game, and have the No. 2 rushing defense in the National Football League, giving up just 87 yards per game.
However, for the Bears to be our NFL Betting Advice pick, they’ll need to be much better on the offensive side of the football than they were last weekend. In their loss to New England, the Bears put up just seven points, on an embarrassingly low 185 yards. Quarterback Jay Cutler completed just 12 of 26 passes for no touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Luckily, we expect the Bears to play much better, and to seal a win on Monday night. Because of it, our NFL Betting Advice is to back Chicago.
The truth is, that as bad as the Bears were last weekend, it was just a blip on their radar, not a big picture problem. Prior to last weekend, Chicago had scored at least 21 points in four of their last five games, which should be more than enough to win this Monday night. As good as Peterson and the Vikings running game is, we fully expect it to struggle, especially without the aid of Jackson or Favre under center.
In the end, the Bears have too much talent on both sides of the ball, and the Vikings just won’t be able to keep up.
The only NFL Betting Advice we can give out is to back the Bears.
