NFL Betting Advice – Can Momentum Carry the Skins Past the Packers?
October 10, 2010
The Washington Redskins surprised the Philadelphia Eagles in their own barn last week but my NFL Betting Advice – don’t read too much into that victory.
This week the Skins are at home to an elite Green Bay Packers team that let a terrible Detroit team hang around last week.
Green Bay will likely not make the same mistake this week.

The Green Bay Packers have a lot to prove to themselves and to those dishing out NFL Betting advice – that they are a dominant team worthy of their elite status. Last week’s two point victory over the Detroit Lions was a wakeup call for a Packers team that was outgained and in many respects outplayed.
The offense is middle of the pack at present. The passing offense has been OK but by most accounts, it has been largely under-utilized. The running game has been brutal since the season ending injury to Ryan Grant and ranks 24th in the NFL. Last week saw the offense gain only 261 yards against a very vulnerable Lions defense – a far cry from the 321 yards that they have averaged this season.
This week, Aaron Rodgers and his stable of stud receivers go up against one of the worst statistical secondaries in the NFL. The running game will likely be non-existent again leaving Rodgers to carry the team with his arm.
The Green Bay defense has also been middle of the pack and has given up the 13th most points in the NFL so far this season. They are generating sacks (a NFL leading 16 with Clay Matthews responsible for seven!), and they are getting their share of turnovers but the squad is giving up astounding yardage totals (431 against Detroit last week).
The Washington Redskins obviously weren’t listening to any NFL Online Betting advice last week. They grinded out a win in a low scoring, snoozer of a game. Despite just 125 yards passing last week, Washington still has the 13th ranked passing offense. They will have to be better for sure against a Green Bay team that is sure to score a lot of points.
The Washington Redskins will have a new sheriff in their backfield come Sunday. Clinton Portis is likely to sit with his annual injury woes and Ryan Torain will get the start. The 19th ranked running game looked good last week churning out 169 yards against Philadelphia.
Where Washington has struggled is on defense. They have the second worst defense in the NFL and have by far the worst pass rush in the league. The Skins have one whole sack this season – ONE! Against Green Bay, this will be a problem.
NFL Betting Advice Outlook:
Green Bay is 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games and is 4-1 S/U in their last five and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games against Washington. The Packers are 10-3 S/U in their last 13 overall but are just 1-4 ATS in their last five as favorites.
Washington is 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games as home underdog.
Washington’s defense or lack of will be the difference in this game. If there is no pressure on Aaron Rodgers, he will simply eat them alive. Expect a better effort from a Green Bay team that has been hard on themselves in recent weeks. Momentum for Washington means nothing!
