NFL Betting – Tennessee vs Dallas
October 10, 2010
The Cowboys are coming off a week three bye and it’s given them time to regroup after a 1-2 start to the season. The Tennessee Titans haven’t had such a luxury as they try to understand a season that’s see them lose two games as favorite but win two games they were NFL betting underdogs. These two teams meet this Sunday in Dallas look to build some consistency.
The NFL odds makers have set the Dallas Cowboys as -7-point favorites. A straight up bet on the underdog Titans will pay bettors +260 on the moneyline. The game total is set at 41½-points.

The Dallas Cowboys were the trendy pick to come out of the NFC and play for the Super Bowl but after opening the season with two straight losses, people were jumping off the bandwagon quick.

At 0-2, Dallas playing the Texans at home was the easiest money on the board in week 3 as they pasted the Houston 27-13. Tony Romo completed 23 of 30 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns.
Dallas has beaten themselves as much as their opponents beat them in the first two games of the season. They committed a ridiculous amount of penalties including on that cost them a game winning touchdown against Washington. Against the Bears, they lost two pro-bowlers to injuries during a tight game.
The team was performing but just didn’t close out the games against Washington and Chicago. What fans saw against the Texans is more typical of what fans expected and what we should see the rest of the season from the Cowboys.
The Titans performances this season directly tie to Chris Johnson. If Johnson can move the ball as he did against Oakland and NYG, the Titans win. However if Johnson can’t move the ball like the games against Pittsburgh and Denver, the Titans will lose.
Against the Steelers and the Broncos, Johnson was limited to just 34 and 53 rushing yards respectively. It’s a far cry from his 12 straight games topping 100 yards rushing.
Right now, quarterback Vince Young isn’t beating teams. He failed to top 175 yards this season with his most coming against the Broncos as the Titans were playing catch up. If the opponents stuff the box to stop Johnson, Young can’t beat them deep.
In three games, the Cowboys have held opponents to just 83.7 yards a game.
The Titans have a stout run defense but the rushing attack of the Cowboys isn’t their concern. It’s Tony Romo, Jason Whitten, Miles Austin and the potentially Roy Williams.
Vince Young’s inability to beat teams through the air will allow the Cowboys to focus on Johnson. The Titans middle of the pack pass defense won’t be able to contain Tony Romo on Sunday. My NFL betting pick for this game is the Dallas Cowboys -7.
NFL Betting Pick: Dallas -7
