NFL Betting – Preview of NFC East
August 10, 2010
Over this offseason, the NFC East turned into the American League East of football: Everyone competing against everyone else to field a championship caliber team.
As we’re now just days away from the 2010 season, who should be your NFL Betting pick, in the toughest division in football?

Dallas Cowboys (+125): How ‘bout them Cowboys? That’s right, it’s the Dallas Cowboys who enter 2010 as the favorites to win this division, behind a balanced offense and feared defense.
Leading the charge is of course Tony Romo, who despite incessant media criticism has slowly turned into one of the elite quarterbacks in this league.
In 2009, he was the man behind the second ranked total offense in the NFL (399.4 yards per game), which also ranked in the top 10 in rushing offense and passing offense.
Romo’s got plenty of playmakers returning with including receiver Miles Austin (81 catches), tight end Jason Witten (94 catches), and a three-headed running attack comprised of Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.
Of course on the other side of the ball the Cowboys are stacked as well, finishing 2009 second in scoring defense (15.6 points per game).
The leader of that unit continues to be disruptive defensive end DeMarcus Ware, who finished 2009 with 11 sacks.
The linebackers are again led by veteran Bradie James, who led this unit in tackles last season with 113.
With talent all over the field, there is plenty of reason to make the Cowboys your NFL Betting pick. Get your wager in now!
Philadelphia Eagles (+270): Quickly looking at Philadelphia, there’s a lot to like off this team that went 11-5 last year, and 9-7 ATS (Including 5-3 on the road).
However, what the 2010 NFL season will ultimately come down to, is if quarterback Kevin Kolb is ready to take the reigns of this offense.
That’s right, with Donovan McNabb now in Washington, the offense rests on the shoulders of Kolb. He started two games last year, throwing four touchdowns and three interceptions.
Kolb will once again have plenty of weapons to work with, as DeSean Jackson was the definition of an “explosive,” wide receiver, averaging 18.9 yards per catch, scoring nine touchdowns.
LeSean McCoy returns to leading this running game, after finishing with 637 yards as a rookie.
But in the end, this all comes down to Kolb. He’s one of the key players in the entire NFL entering 2010.
New York Giants (+275): My how quickly the mighty fall, as the Giants started out last year 5-0 SU (4-0-1 ATS), before a late season collapse saw them finish 8-8.
Now, entering 2010, they’re- dare we say- being overlooked?
The key of course will be the play of quarterback Eli Manning. In those first five wins, Manning threw 10 touchdowns and just two interceptions.
He then followed it up with just five touchdowns and six interceptions in the next four games, all Giants losses. Which Eli will show up in 2010? It remains to be seen.
As for the defense, it too became comically bad by the end of the year, allowing 40 or more points in three of the last four games, and allowed 26.7 points per game (Ranked 30th in the league).
Rookie Jason Pierre-Paul was brought in to bolster the defensive line.
Washington Redskins (+550): And finally, the final NFL Betting in the NFC East is the Washington Redskins.
On the one hand, things can’t get much worse than they were for Washington in 2009, as they finished the year just 4-12 and 6-8-2 ATS (Including an abysmal 2-6 at home).
Quarterback Donovan McNabb will, at the very least, pump a little life into what was an otherwise lifeless offense.
Washington averaged just 16.6 points per game last season.
On paper, the Redskins certainly seem like a long shot to win this division, but remember, games aren’t played on paper.
Look for McNabb to improve this offense, and keep them in the hunt all season long.
