NFL Betting – Jets Look to Rebound Against Miami
December 12, 2010
The New York Jets were an NFL Betting embarrassment in Week 13 and now, on a short week host another divisional foe, Miami.
Both the Jets and the Dolphins will be motivated to avenge bad losses, making for yet another very intriguing AFC East showdown.

The Miami Dolphins have alternated NFL Betting wins and losses in their last eight starts – consistency has been a huge issue for this team. The good news for the Dolphins is that they are on the road this week where they are an impressive 5-1. The bad news – they face the Jets in what is certain to be their coldest game of the season.
Miami’s defense has taken a step backward this season and it all starts with the 18th ranked running game. Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams were supposed to be the strength of the team but have yet to impress. It is worth noting however that in his last two road games, Ricky Williams has averaged 94 yards on the ground.
The passing game (16th ranked – 229.92 yards per game) has been inconsistent just like the rest of the team. Brandon Marshall hasn’t been the same since injuring his hamstring and Brian Hartline has also been injured. Davone Bess has been the only reliable target for the Fins and that is obviously a problem.
Miami’s defense has been very good. They rank 5th against the pass (201.25 yards per game) and 9th against the run (99.58 yards per game). The Dolphins have the 4th ranked overall defense giving up just over 300 yards of offense to their opposition. Rest assured that this unit watched tape of Monday’s game and will try to employ a similar gameplan to the New England Patriots.
The New York Jets suffered their worst NFL Betting loss since 1986 on Monday night – I hope the humble pie was tasty! They were whipped in every aspect of the game – I can’t see it happening again.
New York’s offense was absolutely manhandled by Belichek’s schemes. The question that exists is whether or not this unit can bounce back on a short week. Mark Sanchez has guided the passing offense to 208.17 yards per game, good for 21st in the NFL while the running game still ranks 4th (148.42 yards per game), despite LaDainian Tomlinson failing to reach the 50 yard mark in his last four outings. The Jets will be fine – let’s just relax and give them a mulligan for Monday’s performance.
The Jets defense is another unit that was totally outclassed by New England. Injuries to their safeties had a bigger impact than one would have thought. Despite giving up 405 yards to the Patriots, the Jets still have the 14th ranked pass defense (218.42 yards per game) and the third ranked run defense in the league (87.50 yards per game).
NFL Betting Outlook:
The Miami Dolphins are 5-1 SU on the road this season. Against the Jets, they are 7-18 SU in their last 25 games, 5-17-3 ATS in their last 20, 3-9 SU in their last 12 on the road in New York and 3-6-3 ATS in their last 12 at the Meadowlands.
The New York Jets are 9-2 SU in their last 12 games and are 4-1 SU in their last five at home. They are 18-7 SU in their last 25 against Miami and 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 versus the Dolphins. The Jets are 9-3 SU in their last 12 at home versus the Fins.
The New York Jets are going to be an angry bunch going into Sunday’s contest. I expect the Jets “A Game” to show up and erase the memory of Monday night. However, in a divisional game against a hot road team, I think that the 5 ½ points may be a tad rich. The Jets win but the Fins cover.
FL Betting Pick: Miami Dolphins +5 ½
