October 4, 2010
The Cleveland Browns got their first win in the 2010 NFL betting season Sunday against their in-state rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals, 23-20. The Browns overcame a scoreless fourth quarter to hold on for the victory. The Bengals are now 2-2 on the season, as the Browns became 1-3.
Bengals wide receiver Terrell Owens finally showed up and gave Cincinnati a strong performance, but it wasn’t enough for the win. Owens finished the day with 220 yards on ten catches. Browns quarterback Jake Delhomme is still out with injuries, so Seneca Wallace led Cleveland opposite the Bengals Carson Palmer, who accumulated high stats in the game as the Browns defense focused on the backfield. Palmer threw for 371 yards and two scores, including his career-best pass for 78 yards. Wallace finished the day with 184 yards and one touchdown pass.
Cleveland head coach Eric Mangini told his team that getting that first win was the hardest, and hopes to build on it. Cincinnati, on the other hand, has underperformed so far this season, as many NFL betting fans predicted the duo of Owens and Chad Ochocinco to lead the team atop the AFC North. However, the Bengals now sit at 3rd place in the division.
The Browns are still struggling, but now can offer NFL odds makers some hope, as they showed that they can play down the stretch and get a win. Cleveland, however, is still last in the AFC North division.
Next up for Cleveland in NFL betting are the Atlanta Falcons, which promises to be a tough match, as the Falcons are 3-1 are tied for first in the NFC South. The Bengals next face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who with a 2-1 record are in third place in the NFC South.
