Kolb vs. Cassel! The Dream Matchup Of Your Nightmares!
The Eagles thundered through pre-season as the team to watch. The only problem was that everyone was watching when Donavan McNabb went down with a fractured rib. Kevin Kolb, his eternal backup, was handed the keys to the beamer, and I hear he put up pretty good numbers. But he was forced to throw 51 times in that game. I can put great numbers if I’m allowed to throw 51 times!
The Chiefs are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 games and have a nice +9.5 cushion when they clash with the Eagles this weekend. However, I like the Eagles for two main reasons. First, the Chiefs look horrific and the Eagles defense has something to prove after letting the Saints post 48-points on their faces.
The other likeable part of this matchup is the coaching and rush defense of KC. Ok, maybe that’s two parts. But either way, the Eagles need to rely more on Brian Westbrook, and if thirty-six has anything left in the tank he’ll get to prove it against a defense that allows 132.5 yards against on the ground.
Furious Free Pick: Philadelphia -9.5 (UNDER 42)
Are We Done With Jason Campbell Yet?
Jason Campbell has to prove that he’s worthy of being Dan Snyder’s main man. The staff seems to believe in him, but if a 13.0 points per game average and 212.0 passing yards per game is what you expect out of your franchise quarterback, then I think the entire franchise needs to rethink their goals for the season. The Redskins are 0-2-3 ATS in their last 5 games and 1-6-3 ATS in their last 10 games. Is that not the worst betting record you’ve ever seen? Can we get some clean numbers please?!
Detroit has looked admirable in losing (for once). Matthew Stafford is the real deal, and the chemistry he’s developing with Calvin Johnson is going to make opponents terrified. They’re letting Stafford throw, as is proof in his 30 attempts last weekend against Minnesota. Picks will be a problem for Stafford, but Washington just doesn’t have the talent to turn those in to points.
I’m not totally convinced on the Redskins defense yet. They’ve allowed 114.5 rushing yards against, and that’s with Albert Haynesworth. The defense keeps bad teams down, but their offense doesn’t give them any distance. Which is why…
