NFC Update – ‘Boys are NFL Odds Betting Shmucks
October 26, 2010
Dallas Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones will host a Super Bowl in his awesome stadium, but the ‘Boys won’t be playing in the Super Bowl after failing both straight up and as NFL odds favorites yet again.
Maybe, they’ll run a quick flag football tournament with the Saints, 49’er and Vikings because all four of those teams are proving impossible to back in the NFL odds sports betting book. Before getting to why those four teams are in the NFC Bottom 5 this week, we need to take a look at the NFC Top 5.

NFC Top 5 NFL Betting
- Detroit Lions 1-5 (5-1 ATS) – - Still tops after the bye and QB Matthew Stafford should be back this Sunday. Megatron is awesome. The Lions are only 2 games out of it in the NFC North. So, I guess the fork isn’t even warming in the pie at this point.
- St. Louis Rams 3-4 (5-2 ATS) – - NFL odds say that the Rams covered in their 17 to 18 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs this past Sunday, but some of us are still disappointed. As an NFL fan, it’s disheartening to see a team like the Rams, who are on their way back, run out to a 17 to 6 lead and then blow it.
- Seattle Seahawks 4-2 (4-2 ATS) – - Are my eyes deceiving me? Is Seattle really 4 and 2 on the season? Yes, yes they are. See how the running game opens things up in the passing game? The ‘Hawks were the easiest pick ATS this past Sunday as they rolled as -6 ½ point faves over the Cardinals 22 to 10. They’ve got a tougher matchup against the Raiders this Sunday, but they should pull it out. The ‘Hawks D is second in the NFL, after the Steelers, versus the run.
- Washington Redskins 4-3 (4-2-1 ATS) – - QB D. McNabb may not be playing as well as he should be playing but the ‘Skins found a running back in Ryan Torain who rushed for 125 yards in their 17 to 14 straight up victory over Chicago as +3 NFL odds dogs this past Sunday.
- Atlanta/New York Giants 5-2 (4-3 ATS) – - Take your pick with these two. I believe both of these teams are legit and will most likely win the NFC South and the NFC East respectively. They both have very good defenses and both offenses are loaded. So, the Falcons and Giants should continue to cover spreads.
NFC Bottom 5 NFL Betting
- Dallas Cowboys 1-5 (1-5 ATS) – - Tony Romo’s clavicle injury means that the ‘Boys will continue to lose straight up but they might start to cover ATS since the NFL odds makers won’t favor them as much as they have in the past.
- San Francisco 49’ers 1-6 (2-5 ATS) – - Really, SF? You couldn’t beat Carolina on the road as -1 point favorites? The 20 to 23 loss was flat out embarrassing. There’s nothing positive about San Francisco at this point including “super-coach” Mike Singletary.
- New Orleans Saints 4-3 (2-5 ATS) – - I don’t understand how QB Drew Brees fell for the zone blitz against the Browns but he did it twice in the Saints’ shocking 17 to 30 home loss. Now, New Orleans has to beat Pittsburgh this Sunday and that won’t be easy. At least they’re only a game out of tying the Falcons for the lead in the NFC South and running backs Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush are schedule to return from injuries soon.
- Carolina Panthers 1-5 (2-4 ATS) – - The victory over the San Francisco 49’ers was nice, but this team is still a pile of dog-doo. We’ll see if they can keep their good fortune going against the St. Louis Rams, as +3 point NFL odds dogs this Sunday.
- Minnesota Vikings 2-4 (2-4 ATS) – - Favre’s ankle is bad. He’s a cheater in the love department, Brad Childress hates Brett, and Randy Moss is having zero affect on this team but the bad news started during the NFL Preseason. Seriously…who didn’t see this coming?
