New York Giants vs Indianapolis Colts – Bet on Football
September 19, 2010
If you’re looking to bet on football this weekend, there really is only one game to get you into the action. That’s the “Manning Bowl,” Sunday night, when Eli Manning’s Giants visit brother Peyton’s Colts. Who’s your pick?
New York Giants (1-0 SU, 1-0 ATS) at Indianapolis Colts (0-1 SU, 0-1 ATS)
Sunday, September 20: 8:20 p.m. NBC- Live from Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN
NFL Betting Odds:
New York: +5 ½
Indianapolis: -5 ½
Total Points: 48 ½
For the Colts, they did something in Week 1 they almost never do…lost.
After starting last regular season out 14-0, they opened by going down to Houston and losing to the Texans 34-24. In that game, it wasn’t so much about what they did, but what they didn’t do, mainly tackling. Houston running back Arian Foster had a monster game, rushing for 231 yards and three touchdowns.
On offense, the Colts are still dynamite, and will put up enough points to certainly make the OVER a smart way to bet on football this weekend. Peyton Manning is back in charge, and whenever that happens, this offense will hum. In Week 1, the veteran superstar completed a staggering 40 of 57 passes for 433 yards and three touchdowns. Because Indianapolis fell behind early, the running game was practically non-existent, with Joseph Addai’s 44 yards, the totality of their rushing offense. Expect that to be improved Sunday night.

As for their opponents on Sunday, the New York Giants are 1-0, but even in victory there’s a lot to be desired.
In their 31-18 win over Carolina, it was Eli Manning and the passing game that single handedly gave them the lead, and at the same time lost it. When you bet on football this weekend, remember, that as good as Manning was, he did also throw three interceptions last Sunday at home against Carolina. That’s got to be cause for concern for anyone thinking of wagering on the Giants.
There are a myriad of factors as you consider where to place your money in this game, but in the end, there’s only one play to make: With the Indianapolis Colts to cover this point spread.
Although their defense looked bad last Sunday, we’ve got to assume that as you get set to bet on football this weekend, they’ll be better. Yes they took a hit as safety Bob Sanders is out, but at the same time, the passing attack of New York is no where near as lethal as the Matt Schaub led Texans.
Also, it’s never a good idea to bet against Peyton Manning and the Colts, especially at Lucas Oil Stadium. Last year this team went 7-1 SU at home and 10-5-1 ATS overall. Do you really want to wager against that? Plus you know that with the loss over the weekend, Peyton Manning is stewing, and ready to get back on the field.
As you get ready to bet on football this weekend, there’s one play you should consider making above all others. That’s the Colts, giving 5 ½ points at home. Make them your pick now!
The Pick: Indianapolis -5 ½
