New York at Utah – Jazz will Dance past Knicks

March 30, 2009

The New York Knicks (29-44 SU, 41-31-1 ATS, 35-38 O/U) and Utah Jazz (45-27 SU, 37-35 ATS, 34-37-1 O/U) go head to head at the EnergySolutions Arena tonight at 9 PM ET.

The struggling Knicks lost to the Charlotte Bobcats 96-85 on Saturday, failing to cover the spread as 7-point road underdogs while the game played Under the posted O/U total of 206 points.

Reserve forward Wilson Chandler led the Knicks with 18 points and nine rebounds as they lost for the seventh time in eight games.

The Jazz came won for the fourth time in five games, beating the Phoenix Suns 104-99 in overtime but failing to cover the spread as 9-point home favorites while the 203 combined points played well Under the 230-point Over/Under total.

Veteran center Mehmet Okur led Utah with a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds.

Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and NBA Free Picks.

New York is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Utah

The total has gone UNDER in 8 of New York’s last 9 games

New York is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games when playing on the road against Utah

New York is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games on the road

Utah is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home

The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Utah’s last 5 games at home

The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Utah’s last 6 games

Utah is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games

NBA Odds

New York Knicks +11 -110

Utah Jazz -11 -110

Over 212½ -110

Under 212½ -110

Analysis: Incredibly, the Knicks have covered the spread in eight consecutive games against the Jazz and have won two of the last three outright. However, with the Knicks back to being a total mess as the regular season winds down – and the Jazz looking to gear up for a playoff run – I say take the Utah Jazz to take down the high-scoring New York Knicks while covering the spread and winning going away.

NBA Free Picks: Utah Jazz -11 Points/Over 212½ Total Points
