New Orleans vs Cincinnati – NFL Odds
December 5, 2010
This Sunday the New Orleans Saints travel to Cincinnati to take on the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. The Bengals are on an eight game losing streak and it seems they are getting progressively worse. It’s a wonder that with the New Orleans Saints on a four game win streak, the NFL odds are as low as they are for this game.
The NFL odds makers have set the New Orleans Saints as the -6½-point favorites. A straight up bet on the underdog Bengals will pay bettors +230 on the moneyline. The game total is set at 45½.

It a loss in Cleveland for the New Orleans Saints to wake up and begin playing like defending Super Bowl Champions. After the loss to the Browns, the Saints beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, crushed the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks, then in the Thanksgiving game, held off a surging Cowboys teams.
Coming in to the game against the Bengals, the Saints offense is clicking. Drew Brees is completing 68.6% of his passes for 3321 yards and 23 touchdowns. One point of concern is Brees is on pace for the highest interceptions total of his career.
The Saints are scoring 24.1 points a game but are averaging 29.5 points a game during their streak.
Defensively, the Saints are limiting opponents to just 17.9 points per game. They are third best in the NFL against the pass, limiting opponents to 197.8 yards a game.
The Bengals started the season 2-1, with wins in week 2 and 3 over Baltimore and Carolina. Since then, it went all downhill. The Bengals haven’t allowed less than 22 points a game during their eight game losing streak. On the season, they are allowing 26.2 points per game.
The Bengals have gotten a great season out of Terrell Owens. Owens has caught 65 passes for 914 yards and 8 touchdowns this season. Still the rest of the team hasn’t matched Owens play this season.
Offensively, the Bengals are scoring just 20.5 points a game and their running attack has suffered this season. They are averaging 92 yards a game.
The fact the NFL odds are under a touchdown for these game should scream, “TAKE THE SAINTS!” During the Bengals losing streak, they’ve only covered one NFL spread and I doubt they’ll cover another one this season.
NFL Betting Pick: New Orleans Saints -6½
