NCAAF Sports Betting Preview – No. 10 Utah Utes vs. Iowa State Cyclones
October 9, 2010
The biggest sports betting tip I can give you about this game is that Utah is undefeated under coach Kyle Wittingham when coming off the BYE week.
You may not know much about the Iowa State Cyclones, but they’re simply not a team you want to trifle with in sports betting. Utah won’t take them lightly either.
The Cyclones posted a huge win over Texas Tech with an end score of 52-38 to stun the sports betting community last weekend.

Austen Arnaud continued his ascension by throwing 190 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Iowa State managed 441 yards of total offense, largely because Arnaud is extremely mobile in the pocket.
The Cyclones are also a pesky 5-1 SU in their last 6 home stands, which should explain why this sports betting line is so tight. It’s been over 30-years since the Utes have faced the Cyclones, and they lost all four of those matchups. The Cyclones’ ability to put points on the board and manage a balanced offense could very well keep this game closer than you think.
#10 Utah Utes (4-0) vs. Iowa State Cyclones (3-2)
Saturday, October 9th — Jack Trice Stadium — 7:00pm EST
NCAAF Sports Betting Line: Utah -6.0 (51.5)
Still, the sports betting trends favor Utah heavily in this game. Iowa State lost 7-35 against similarly stacked Iowa, which was ranked No.9 at the time in the country. Utah is also 11-0 SU in their past 11 games against unranked opponents.
The return of quarterback Jordan Wynn has been a huge boost for Utah’s offense. He’s one of the most efficient passers in the game, and completed 77.8 percent of his passes last weekend against San Jose State while also posting 2 scores in a blowout victory.
The offense isn’t the question mark for Utah. They rank 6th in points scored this season with a blistering 44.3 points per game, but their defense gets chewed up on the ground. They allow 336.3 yards per game, and the rushing game of Iowa State is very strong.
Still, the fact that Utah is ranked seventh in overall defense should boost some confidence. The fact is that Iowa State isn’t going to sneak up on anybody. Teams as diligent and hard nosed as Utah will prepare aptly for Iowa State. At just 3-2 SU this season, with a 2-2 ATS record, the Cyclones have some obvious weaknesses.
And Utah will be prepared to expose them. Iowa State has the ability to keep games close, but Utah has made their mark by being using a grizzled work ethic that will help cover the sports betting number in this game.
