NCAAF Sports Betting Fave #8 Nebraska Should Demolish KU
November 13, 2010
The college football sports betting odds on the Kansas vs. Nebraska game this Saturday says that the Jayhawks might consider not even showing up.
Nebraska is a 35 ½ point favorite over Kansas on Nov. 13th. The Cornhuskers have won 3 games in a row after being upset by the Texas Longhorns 13 to 20 as 10-point home favorites.
But they’ve only gone 2 and 1 ATS in those 3 games, however, and that might be a reason why only 48% of football handicappers are backing the ‘Huskers to cover the spread on Saturday.

Iowa State, in fact, almost upset the Cornhuskers last Saturday as 14 ½ point sports betting underdogs. Will the Nebraska team that beat Washington 56 to 12 and Kansas State 48 to 13 show up this Saturday? Or, will the one that lost to Texas 13 to 20 and could only beat Iowa State 31 to 30 show up this Saturday?

Kansas Jayhawks +35 ½ -110 O 61 -110
Nebraska Cornhuskers -35 ½ -110 U 61 -110
The wagering trends favor neither team in this game.
- The Kansas Jayhawks are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games as a road underdog of 10 ½ points or greater.
- The Kansas Jayhawks are 2 and 8 ATS versus a team with a winning record.
- The Nebraska Cornhuskers are 4 and 0 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS loss.
- The Nebraska Cornhuskers are 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite at home.
Nebraska is definitely the better team but, for some strange reason, they play to their competition’s level. The college football sports betting odds makers didn’t take that into account when setting the wagering line and that’s why many football handicappers are looking to back the Jayhawks in this contest.
The Cornhuskers are an odd team. They take apart Washington 56 to 21 as -3 point favorites in the sportsbook. They barely beat South Dakota State 17 to 3 as -41 ½ point favorites.
They demolish Kansas State on the road 48 to 13 as -11 point faves. Then, they lose straight up to Texas only 9 days later. They barely cover versus Oklahoma State in a 51 to 41 victory but put to bed Missouri’s dreams of reaching the BCS Championship Game in a 31 to 17 romp as -8 point sports betting faves.
Now comes the 31 to 30 victory over Iowa State. So, what’s going to happen when Kansas comes to Lincoln on Nov. 13th? The truth is that Nebraska should beat KU easily but there are some things about Kansas that make me lean the other way as far as the wagering spread is concerned.
Kansas lost 4 games in a row, to Baylor 7 to 55, to Kansas State 7 to 59, to Texas A&M 10 to 45, and to Iowa State 16 to 28 before beating Colorado last week 52 to 45 as 7 ½ point favorites. The Jayhawks can get spanked but as their victory over Colorado proves, they can also outplay a team that isn’t “up for them”.
So, the question is whether or not the Nebraska Cornhuskers are going to be up for their game versus KU on Saturday or are they going to just go through the motions like they have done so many times before this season.
I sort of feel like flipping a coin and making my NCAAF sports betting decision based on that. The truth is that Nebraska could very well buckle down and beat Kansas 42 to 3 in this game or even 56 to 10, but I can’t give up the 35 ½ points.
KU is a bad team but they play hard and the ‘Huskers almost always play down to their competition. KU is the pick at +35 ½ points to cover the spread in this game.
NCAAF Betting Pick: Kansas Jayhawks +35 ½ -110
