If you’re a fan of fast paced and high scoring action on the college football grid iron, then my NCAAF betting tips for you is to do whatever you possibly can to catch this tussle between the Wolf Pack and Warriors!
This match-up pits Nevada’s 7th ranked scoring attack (43 PPG) against the Warriors 11th ranked scoring attack (39.3 PPG). Head coach Chris Ault’s squad totes the mail with its “Pistol” attack led by veteran quarterback Colin Kaepernick, while head coach Greg McMackin’s outfit slings the pigskin all over the field with quarterback Bryant Moniz.
Both field generals have been simply outstanding to start the season. Kaepernick has completed 70.7 percent of his passes to date for 1321 yards and thrown for eight TDs and just three INTs. He’s also rushed for 639 yards at 7.4 YPC and hit pay dirt 11 times!
Moniz came on strong throwing for 2396 yards and a TD/INT ratio of 14/10 a year ago. He’s been even better this season already throwing for 2245 yards at 9.1 yards per attempt, and has cut his INTs down significantly only tossing four to go along with a whopping 18 TDs.
What points my NCAAF betting tips towards a high scoring game is the fact that both of those fine signal callers also have a number of solid weapons surrounding them. In other words, they are by far not the only scoring threats that will take the field on Saturday night.
Vai Taua has been simply outstanding in Nevada’s backfield much like he has throughout the course of his career. He currently stands third in the country in rushing behind only Michigan’s Denard Robinson (991 yards) and Oregon’s LaMichael James (868 yards) with 837 yards from scrimmage at 7.2 YPC. He’s also found the end zone 11 times on the year.
On the other side of the ball sits Hawaii’s big time playmakers in the form of Greg Salas and Kealoha Pilares. The duo has combined to haul in 95 receptions for 1483 yards and snagged 16 of Moniz’ 18 overall TD passes. Salas boasts a yard per catch average of 15.1, while Pilares comes in at a robust 16.1.
NCAA Football Insider Tip: The kicker in this one is that both squads’ respective defenses are deficient in what both offenses excel at.
Nevada’s ground attack ranks 5th in the country amassing a whopping 231 YPG; Hawaii’s run defense has been shredded to the tune of 171.8 YPG (#85). It allowed USC, Army, and Colorado to go for 200+ before settling down the last couple weeks against LA Tech and Fresno State; both clubs abandoned the run early after falling behind by so much.
Hawaii will certainly be able to take advantage of Nevada’s pass defense with its #1 ranked aerial attack (421.7 YPG). The Wolf Pack has surrendered a shade under 230 YPG on the year (#83), but is yet to oppose a passing offense ranked in the top 25 this season.
This certainly is a tough number to overcome as lofty as it is, but my NCAA betting tips for this crucial WAC match-up are for you to throw caution to the wind and hit the ‘over’ up immediately. Each of the L/4 battles between these clubs held on the island has surpassed the closing number; look for this to be lucky #5!
My NCAA Football Predictions: Nevada/Hawaii Over 75.5
