Georgia (1-0 SU, 1-0 ATS, 1-0 O/U)
- Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
- Bulldogs are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. win.
- Bulldogs are 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 conference games.
- Bulldogs are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win.
Georgia went 8-5 in 2009 and cruised to a convincing 55-7 season-opening win over the University of Louisiana at Lafayette at home on Saturday to cash in against the NCAAF Betting Odds as a whopping 29-point home favorite while playing Over the enormous 62-point O/U Total.
The Bulldogs didn’t have their leading rusher or receiver from last season available as A.J. Green and Washaun Ealey were both suspended for their own unrelated incidents. Ealey however, is expected to be back on the field for the Gamecocks this.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Aaron Murray completed 17 of 26 passes for 160 yards with three TD passes and one interception. Murray also ran four times for 42 yards and a touchdown.
South Carolina (1-0 SU, 1-0 ATS, 1-0 O/U)
- Gamecocks are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games in September.
- Gamecocks are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
- Gamecocks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win.
The Gamecocks finished 7-6 in 2009 but also cruised to an easy win in its regular season opener on Saturday, pounding Southern Miss senseless in its 41-13 win to cover the NCAAF Betting Line as a 13-point home favorite in the BetOnline Football Sportsbook.
South Carolina put on a balanced offensive attack by rushing for 224 yards and passing for a nearly-identical 225 yards.
Junior quarterback Stephen Garcia completed 16-of-23 passes for 193 yards while adding 38 yards on five carries with two touchdowns.
Here is a look at the key head-to-head trends surrounding this contest.
- Bulldogs are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
- Underdog is 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
- Road team is 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
- Under is 7-0 in the last 7 meetings in South Carolina.
- Under is 12-1 in the last 13 meetings.
Analysis: I’m going to get right to the point here for my college football betting brethren by saying that these two teams are very evenly matched at this early juncture of the regular season – and are so closely paired, that I believe the outcome of this contest lies solely in the fact that the South Carolina Gamecocks are playing at home.
I know the road team in this EC series has gone 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings while the Underdog has gone a nearly identical 4-1-1 against the NCAAF betting line in the last six meetings, but I really like the Gamecocks’ 5-0 ATS in their last five games in the month of September and impressive 4-1 ATS mark against a team with a winning record in their last five such matchups.
Last but certainly not least is the fact that the Georgia Bulldogs have gone just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following an SU win and a bankroll-breaking 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 games against conference opponents.
Georgia may have a commanding 46-14-2 edge in their longtime series, while winning seven of the last eight matchups overall, but I think Steve Spurrier’s ballclub manages to narrow the gap on both of those marks by recording the outright home win and very narrow NCAAF betting line cover while the Over plays out between these two schools.
