NCAAB Betting Picks – Boston College Usually Covers Against Duke
January 28, 2011
Duke is one of the best teams in the country without a doubt, but they’re one of the trickiest NCAAB betting picks to get your head around. Nothing epitomizes that point more than the fact that they’re 9-1 SU and just 3-7 ATS during their past 10 clashes with the Boston College Eagles.
A lot of that has to do with the fact that Boston College plays Duke ferociously at home. The other is that the NCAAB betting lines are usually overblown because of the public backing that a powerhouse like Duke naturally receives.

The win is the easy part for Duke, especially at home, but they’re still just 1-4 ATS in their past five home games.
Boston College Eagles (14-6) vs. #3 Duke Blue Devils (18-1)
Thursday, January 27th — Cameron Indoor Stadium — 8:00pm EST
NCAAB Betting Line: Duke -17.0
The bigger focus for Boston College will be keeping Ryan Kelly’s hot hand on fire tonight. Kelly has scored on 13 consecutive shots from the floor, and that is certainly a streak he’d like to keep going. Boston College’s Reggie Jackson is leading the team with 19.1 points per game.
The Eagles aren’t a terrible bet overall in NCAAB betting picks, and are a decent 4-3 ATS in seven road games this season. Considering that the Eagles can score aplenty (74.3 points per game) and Duke has been notoriously atrocious against the Eagles in NCAAB betting picks, I’m taking the Eagles to cover a bloated spread. Grab this before it comes down too fast.

Michigan Wolverines +10.5 over MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS
I know that the Michigan Wolverines have a record of 1-6 SU and 3-4 ATS in their seven games since the turn of 2011, but the Spartans are an emotional mess right now. Blowout losses to Purdue and Illinois have the Spartans sinking fast in NCAAB betting picks and the strange dismissal of one of their starting players has to have this team unfocused. That’s why I sense the Wolverines can at least keep this game close.
#19 Vanderbilt Commodores -6.0 over MISSISSPI STATE BULLDOGS
Mississippi State has traditionally owned this series. They’re actually 6-4 SU in their past 10 meetings with Vanderbilt and are 5-0 ATS in the most recent 5 matchups. But Vanderbilt is playing on a whole other level this year and have been fairly reliable on the road by going 4-2 ATS away from home. For my money in NCAAB betting picks, that’s far more reliable than the Bulldogs who are 2-5 ATS on their own court.
