NCAAB Betting – Bubble Teams to Watch This Weekend
March 12, 2011
Still not sure who will be left standing when this NCAAB Betting weekend is over, and the NCAA Tournament field is announced? You’re not alone, as coaches all over the country are stressed out as we head to Selection Sunday.
So which teams could use another win or two to secure an NCAA Tournament bid? Let’s take a look, on this edition of “Bubble Watch”:
Colorado Buffaloes (21-12 SU, 14-12 ATS): Of every team on this list, it appears for all intents and purposes the Colorado Buffaloes are the safest. After all, it was on Thursday afternoon that they won their second Big XII Conference Tournament game in two days, advancing to their first ever semifinal.
After beating Iowa State on Wednesday, Thursday’s victory over Kansas State (the Buffaloes third over the Wildcats this season), should’ve all but punched their NCAA Tournament ticket. Colorado got 28 points from Cory Higgins and 24 from Alec Burks in the win, which was Colorado’s third win in a row. They went 2-1 against the spread over that stretch as well.
Still, for Colorado to be NCAAB Betting locks for this year’s Big Dance, a win over No. 1 seed Kansas seems like it’d move them off the bubble, and into the Big Dance. Keep that in mind when making your wagers this weekend.
Georgia Bulldogs (21-10 SU, 13-14 ATS): Much like Colorado, Georgia did themselves a great service by winning a conference tournament game on Thursday, there’s against hopeless Auburn.
Then again, that’s kind of been the story of the Bulldogs NCAAB Betting season, they beat the teams they’re supposed to, but can’t beat the big boys. Georgia went a combined 2-6 against fellow SEC East powers Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. For those scoring at home, they did get a win over the Colorado team listed above in the out of conference play.
And like the Buffaloes, a win in Friday’s quarterfinal against Alabama would go a long, long way in securing the Bulldogs a bid.
Villanova Wildcats (21-11 SU, 11-17-1 ATS): Unlike the two teams listed above, Villanova doesn’t control their own destiny in a hunt for an NCAA Tournament at-large berth.
That’s because they fell as heavy NCAAB Betting favorites to South Florida in the first round of the Big East Tournament on Tuesday.
But really, that was the story Villanova’s entire second half of the season, as the Wildcats were an awful 5-10 straight up in their last 15 and 0-5 in their last five. They were also an abominable 1-9 against the spread in their last 10, as chemistry and injury issues derailed their season.
While the Wildcats do hold early season quality wins over Temple and UCLA in the out of conference, and Louisville and Cincinnati in Big East play, this is a club that will be sweating heading into Selection Sunday.
Even if they do advance, be very wary: Villanova is a very dangerous NCAAB Betting pick right now.
