NCAA Saturday Parlay Picks – Huge Upsets mean Huge Profits

September 25, 2009

There’s going to be a ton of money and a ton of press provided to the Miami Hurricanes versus Virginia Tech Hokies game this weekend. Why not? The Hurricanes have beaten two ranked teams to start the season and are looking to make it three in a row against VA Tech.

The Hokies believe that by beating Miami, they will move themselves up the BCS ladder and put themselves into a position to possibly sneak into the BCS Title Game come December.

For NCAA betting fans, paying attention to that game is a must, but forgetting about some of the other unheralded games could lead to a possibility of missing out on some serious cash.

Let’s take a look at some of those games right now.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Maryland Terrapins

Kick-off: 3:30 pm EST

Rutgers -1 ½

Analysis: Maryland was whipped by California, beat James Madison in overtime by a field goal, and then lost to Middle Tennessee State. How bad is this team? Plenty bad. Let me tell you. Plenty bad. The Scarlet Knights were thumped by Cincinnati, beat up on Howard and then beat Florida International by 8. Also, quarterback Tom Savage hasn’t thrown an interception this year. The Scarlet Knights may not roll in this game, but the football odds are well within reach. They should cover.

Pick: Rutgers at -1 ½

Boise State Broncos vs. Bowling Green Falcons

Kick-off: 7:00 pm EST

Boise State -16 ½

Analysis: The Broncos were brilliant against Fresno State last Friday night, but look closer and the score could have been closer had the Bulldogs stopped the Broncos from running two kicks back for touchdowns. Now, Boise State travels to Bowling Green with a serious deficiency. Running back D.J. Harper is out for the season and Boise State will have to lean on James Avery.

That will be tough in this game because Bowling Green looked terrific against Missouri in their first game of the season and was unlucky against Marshall in their second game of the season. The Broncos must avoid this trap game. This game has the makings of a close one with Bowling Green possibly, possibly, pulling off a major upset.

Pick: Bowling Green at +16 ½

Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Georgia Bulldogs

Kick-off: 7:00 pm EST

Georgia -11 ½

Analysis: This game is going to come down to a stat that a lot of football gambling fans don’t think about, turnovers. The Sun Devils are ranked first in the country while forcing 8 turnovers in their first two games and committing only 1.

Georgia is ranked 116th in the turnover category, forcing only 2 and committing 9. This is a huge stat that should be in the Sun Devils’ favor as the Bulldogs love to put the ball in the air. QB Joe Cox has already thrown for 3 interceptions. Expect at least 2 in this game. I’m going Sun Devils all the way in this.

Pick: Arizona State at +11 ½

Upset Pick of the Day!

Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Penn State Nittany Lions

Kick-off: 8:00 pm EST

Penn State -10

Analysis: Look at Penn State’s roster and you see a lot of Fr.’s and So.’s next to the OL’s. Look at Iowa’s roster and you see a lot of Jr.’s and Sr.’s next to the DT’s and LB’s. The Nittany Lions have freshman and sophomores along their offensive line. The Hawkeyes have juniors and seniors in their defensive front seven. Iowa beat this team straight up in 2008 and shut down a seriously good Arizona Wildcats offense last Saturday. Forget the spread, I’m going money line in this game, baby!

Pick: Iowa at +320 on the money line
