NCAA Hoops Betting Alabama at No. 11 Clemson

January 6, 2009

The Alabama Crimson Tide (10-3 SU, 4-4 ATS, 6-2 O/U) have won five consecutive games in the BetOnline Sportsbook coming into tonight’s matchup with the undefeated 11th-ranked Clemson Tigers, (14-0 SU, 5-4 ATS, 5-4 O/U).

The Tide spanked Georgia Tech 88-77 on Saturday as senior guard Ronald Steele scored a team-high 23 points and dished out 10 assists to help Alabama cover the spread for BetOnline NCAA college basketball sports betting enthusiasts as a 3.5-point home favorite in the BetOnline Sportsbook.

"I’m just getting better and better," said Steele who has battled injuries the last two seasons. "I just tried to do the things we needed to win the game."

Alonzo Gee recorded his second double-double in three games with 15 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.

"Steele and Gee are as good as we’ve faced," said Clemson head coach Oliver Purnell, who is 11-4 against SEC teams. "I’m not going to say we’re not ready. We’ve won on the road in the ACC. We’ve won on the road in the Big Ten. We’ve won on the road in the SEC, so I’m not worried about it."

The undefeated Tigers touted East Carolina in their 70-66 win on Saturday. Clemson failed to cover the spread in the BetOnline Sportsbook as 24-point home favorites.

Senior shooting guard K.C. Rivers led four players that reached double figures in scoring with 18 points.

Here is a look at the key trends for each team, followed by my in-depth analysis and NCAA college basketball Free Picks:

The Crimson Tide are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600.

The Tigers are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. Southeastern.

The Tigers are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following an ATS loss.

The Over is 4-0 in Crimson Tide last 4 games following a S.U. win.

The Over is 9-1 in Tigers last 10 home games vs. a team with a road winning percentage of greater than .600.

NCAAB Odds

Alabama +14 -110

Clemson -14 -110

Analysis: Alabama might be playing on the road in this contest, but the athletic Tide should be able to keep this game close all the way until the very end while pushing the Tigers a bit for the outright win. Either way, I don’t see Alabama losing this contest by 15 points.

NCAAB Free Picks: Alabama -14 Points
