NCAA Football Rankings – SEC Betting Power Poll

September 22, 2009

Now that the Gators have failed to cover a spread, find out how BetOnline Sportsbook stacks up the squads in the SEC with this week’s football betting power poll…

1: South Carolina Gamecocks (3-0 ATS, 2-1 SU) (LW: 2) HC Steve Spurrier built a reputation on covering even the heftiest of spreads at Florida, but after a 3-0 ATS start this season, the football betting boosters at South Carolina have to be thrilled. The whole nation will be watching their Thursday nighter against Ole Miss.

Up Next: Home vs. Mississippi (+3)

2: Auburn Tigers (3-0 ATS, 3-0 SU) (LW: 3) When will Auburn OC Gus Malzahn get a head coaching gig? He salvaged the disaster that was once known as the Tigers’ offense and has made the unit one of the most formidable in the nation through three weeks of play. Auburn ranks 7th in the nation in total yards (515.0) and 12th in points scored (42.3) heading into a game against a lousy Cardinals’ squad this week.

Up Next: Home vs. Ball State (-32.5)

3: Tennessee Volunteers (2-1 ATS, 1-2 SU) (LW: 9) The Vols may have lost to the Gators, but they played as good of a game as anyone has against UF in almost a year. DC Monte Kiffin may have just put together the game plan to stop QB Tim Tebow and the crew, as his UT squad held a team that averaged over 650 yards of offense coming into that game to just 323 yards. Still, wins have got to come in a hurry, or his son is going to get run out of Rocky Top.

Up Next: Home vs. Ohio (-21)

4: Mississippi Rebels (2-0 ATS, 2-0 SU) (LW: 5) Ole Miss picked up its second impressive victory of the season when it disposed of Southeastern Louisiana 52-6 on Saturday. The oddsmakers have made them very short favorites in Columbia this week, which really has to make you wonder whether the #4 team in the land is primed to be upset.

Up Next: Away @ South Carolina (+3)

5: Florida Gators (1-1 ATS, 3-0 SU) (LW: 1) After almost a year without failing to cover a spread, the Gators finally tasted an ATS defeat when they “only” beat Tennessee 23-13 on Saturday afternoon. HC Urban Meyer has a big concern about the flu that is running rampant in Gainesville right now, and it may play a role during this week’s trip to Lexington.

Up Next: Away @ Kentucky (-22)

6: Alabama Crimson Tide (2-1 ATS, 3-0 SU) (LW: 7) Bama really hasn’t done anything impressive since beating V-Tech 34-24 in Week 1, but the bottom line is that this is still the #3 team in the country. The Tide’s defense has just been nasty this season, allowing 42 rushing yards and 185.3 total yards per game.

Up Next: Home vs. Arkansas (-15.5)

And the rest…

7: Kentucky Wildcats (1-1 ATS, 2-0 SU) (LW: 4)

8: Vanderbilt Commodores (1-1 ATS, 1-2 SU) (LW: 6)

9: Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-1 ATS, 2-1 SU) (LW: 10)

10: Arkansas Razorbacks (0-1 ATS, 1-1 SU) (LW: 8)

11: LSU Tigers (1-2 ATS, 3-0 SU) (LW: 11)

12: Georgia Bulldogs (1-2 ATS, 2-1 SU) (LW: 12)
