NCAA Football Picks – #16 Utah Utes at Oregon Ducks
September 19, 2009
Utah Utes (+4) vs. Oregon Ducks (-4)
O/U (52½)
Saturday, September 19 3:30 PM ET
The 16th-ranked Utah Utes (2-0 SU, 0-2 ATS, 0-1-1 O/U) and the Oregon Ducks square off at Autzen Stadium this Saturday, but only one team will walk away victorious. My NCAA football pick will give college football sports betting enthusiasts everywhere the inside scoop on which team will leave you seeing green.
The Utes scored a whopping 17 points in the fourth quarter to come blazing back against the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday and record a 24-14 victory in Week 2, but failing to cover the spread as 14-point road favorites while the game’s 38 total points played well Under the 48-point O/U total.
Junior quarterback Terrance Cain completed 18-of-31 passes for 240 yards with one touchdown while senior running back Matt Asiata carried the ball 21 time for 94 yards and one touchdown.
Oregon held off a late surge by Purdue to win 38-36 in Week 2 but failed to come close in covering the spread as 13-point home favorites while the combined score played Over the 57-point O/U total.
Junior quarterback Jeremiah Masoli completed 11-of-21 passes for 124 yards with two touchdowns while running for another.

Analysis: I know the Oregon Ducks are playing at home in this contest, but I just don’t see them covering the spread against a talented Utah team. The Utes keep finding ways to win despite not attracting the country’s top blue chip players like many of the ‘big name’ schools across the country.
The Utes have gone an impressive 25-5-1 ATS in their last 31 games as an underdog and 25-6-1 ATS in their last 32 games as a road underdog.
While the Ducks have posted a solid 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an SU win, I think the fact that Oregon has gone 1-4 ATS in their last five non-conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, will come back to haunt them in this game.
While I am just a wee bit concerned that Utah has gone a poor, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a Pac-10 opponent, I’m banking on the Utes to improve their outstanding 25-11-1 ATS mark in their last 37 non-conference games.
With the Over going 8-1-1 in the Utes last 10 non-conference games and 5-0-1 in Oregon’s last six games as a home favorite.
Take the Utes and the Over NCAA football betting enthusiasts.
