NCAA Football Odds – Boston College Hosts Kent State

September 11, 2010

Emotions ran high in Boston College’s NCAA football odds season opener as cancer survivor Mark Herzlich returned to the field for the Eagles for the first time since 2008.

NCAA Football Odds:

In 2008, Herzlich was the most dominant defensive force in the Atlantic Coast Conference and was rightfully awarded the ACC defensive player of the year award.

In a drastic turn of events, the Boston College linebacker was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer and would miss the entire 2009 season.

The 2010 home opener for Boston College in Alumni Stadium last week against Weber State, saw the return of the beloved Herzlich as an inspirational spark to the Eagles victory.

While the Eagles defensive performance was strong, the offense got off to a rough start when quarterback Dave Shinskie threw an interception on the first play from scrimmage. Shinskie however, was able to shrug off the early blunder and would throw for two scores in the game.

Boston College running back Montel Harris is coming off his best collegiate season in 2009, rushing for 1,457 yards and 14 touchdowns. Harris didn’t miss a beat for the Eagles, as he rushed for 115 yards and score, while averaging 6.1 yards per carry.

The Kent State Golden Flashes, meanwhile, are off to a hot start to the 2010 NCAA football betting season. Coming off a 41-10 victory over Murray State in their season opener, these Mid-American Conference darlings are looking to improve on their 5-7 record from 2009.

Unfortunately for the Golden Flashes, the NCAA football odds are not in their favor as they have been notoriously poor against Boston College.

Marshall Mention: In the last two matchups between these teams, Boston College has scored 55 points to Kent State’s 7.

Another nonconference home game for the Boston College Eagles should mean another victory and cover of NCAA football odds for Boston College.
