The NCAA Football Odds are set for the BYU vs. Florida State contest and the early money is coming in on the Seminoles. Both teams are looking to avoid two game losing streaks, with BYU dropping a road contest to Air Force while Florida State had their ass’s handed to them by Oklahoma. With the Seminoles looking for some revenge in front of their home crowd, BYU may be lucky to just be dogs by just 1-point against the NCAA Football Odds.

It’s a new era for the Seminoles, as Bobby Bowden finally stepped down after decades at the helm, replaced by Jimbo Fisher. Things started well for Fisher and the Noles as they thumped Samford 59-6 at home, but that’s not much of an accomplishment. They had a chance to really make some noise last week when they took on #10 Oklahoma on the road, but they barely made a peep as FSU was beaten in all facets of the game. The 47-17 loss actually dropped them out of the national rankings this week, but a good showing against BYU may get them right back in the top-25.

Much like Florida State Seminoles, the Cougars opened the season on a high note with a 23-17 home-opening win over Washington, but dropped the ball in Week 2. BYU started well with two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter, but that’s all the offense they could muster as Air Force was too strong all game and handed the Cougars a 35-14 defeat.

The issue for the Cougars offensive futility can be places squarely on the shoulders of the quarterbacking combo of Nelson and Jake Heaps. On the day, they were only able to convert 10-of-25 passes for 88 yards. That has been the story so far for BYU as the QB tandem has a combined passing effort, or lack thereof, that ranks 105th in the country heading into week three. If they want to stay competitive against the Noles, they’re going to need to do more than that.

Oh yea, their defence was god awful last week as well. How bad you ask? How about 409 yards and four touchdowns on the ground last weekend… which is about as bad as it gets. With numbers like that, it’s no wonder why BYU Cougars ranks last in the conference and 117th in the nation against the run, and why people are taking the Seminoles against the NCAA Football Odds.

If you needed to pick who was worse last week, it would have to be BYU. But as bad as BYU’s QB’s were last week FSU’s Quarterback, Christian Ponder, may have been worse. He was just 11-of-28 for 113 yards, which includes a pair of interceptions.

But if you have to pick someone this week, it has to be Florida State. They’re playing at home and have the weapons to beat a BYU defence that clearly has issues.

NCAA Football Odds Prediction: Florida State (-1) -110
