Duke Blue Devils at Wake Forest Demon Deacons
12 pm ET Saturday
NCAA Football Betting Line: Wake Forest favored at -5 ½.
Both teams gobbled up cupcakes in the opening week as Wake Forest took out Presbyterian in their college football game and the Blue Devils beat Elon in another easy win. Sean Renfee might be the answer at QB for a Duke team that hasn’t had a whole lot of answers at any position in recent years. He lit up Elon completing about 80 percent of his passes in a 41-27 victory.
But giving up 27 points to such a bad team spells trouble and speaks to the lack of depth and athletic ability the Duke football program still has these days. They don’t have the luxury of running out multiple talented guys in a college football game like Wake Forest does and it is their downfall once they get into conference play in the ACC.
The Blue Devils also got pushed around a bit in the trenches on defense and Wake Forest is a different beast altogether in that regard when taking into account their skill and strength in the running game.
While Duke can throw it fairly well, the best bet in a game like this is to take the better running team and that’s definitely the Demon Deacons who have seen the betting line move from -4 to -5 ½ in recent days.
Go with Wake here in a surprisingly easy win in week 2.
NCAA Football Betting Line Pick: Wake Forest (-5 ½).
