NCAA Football Betting South Carolina: The Week That Was

The South Carolina Gamecocks got an ugly 7-3 win over North Carolina State but they’ve been doing plenty of that in the Steve Spurrier era. There were a number of positives that came from that game for South Carolina, including the fact that they dominated a good offense – and possibly the best quarterback in the ACC – even without three defensive starters, who were suspended. On offense, they showed a bit of a pulse as quarterback Stephen Garcia proved to be alright.

While the Gamecocks move the ball well, they failed to execute well, including two botched field goals and an interception.

One key loss will be the season-ending injury to starting middle linebacker Rodney Paulk.

NCAA Football Betting Georgia: The Week That Was

Everyone knew that Georgia would be without it’s sting now that Matt Stafford and Knowshon Moreno graduated to the NFL but the offense struggled even more so than expected an opening 24-10 loss to Oklahoma State.

Quarterback Joe Cox battled flu-like symptoms in the opener and was ineffective. The Bulldogs will get running back Caleb King back this week but their offense has to wake up if they are going to be in this game.

Keep an eye on the injury reports as there might be a swine flu bug going around the Georgia locker room. Defensive back Makiri Pugh tested positive for H1N1 and obviously, with Cox showing some symptoms, it could be spreading around the team.

The Week That Is:

With two offenses that are struggling and two decent SEC defenses, this is going to be a low-scoring, defensive battle. Under might be a good play but if you are handicapping the side, you would have to take the points with South Carolina.

Although the game is between the hedges, the Bulldogs are not deserved of laying a touchdown in an SEC contest right now. Nobody likes betting South Carolina because they are a very ugly team style-wise but this is an important game for them. They can climb the SEC ladder with a win here and there is no better time to beat Georgia, who is down, rebuilding and possibly dealing with the flu.

Look for the Gamecocks to keep this contest tight and maybe even get the win outright.

Pick: South Carolina +7
