NCAA Football Betting – Who Deserves to Be # 1?
September 7, 2010
With Week 1 of college football down, the preseason rankings inevitably begin to change. However, NCAA football betting fans have their eyes on that Number 1 spot, currently held by defending BCS champions, Alabama. The question remains if this team can maintain this ranking throughout the season, or if Number 2 Ohio State, or another top-ranked team, can claim the rivaled spot.
The Alabama Crimson Tide smeared opponent San Jose State, 48-3, in the opening matchup, but faces a much tougher team in Penn State this coming Saturday at 7:00 PM ET. The Tide were able to show a potent running game even without the help of their star, Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, who sat out the San Jose State game due to an injury.

Penn State Nittany Lions +12, -110
Alabama Crimson Tide -12, -110
Ingram is expected to suit up and play against Penn State, but Alabama will still be without Junior defensive end Marcell Dareus, who is out for two games for a suspension because he received two offseason trips to Miami against NCAA rules. Even though the Tide didn’t need their two best players for their first game, their presence may be a bit more necessary against Penn State, although Alabama is nevertheless the NCAAF betting pick to win the game.
On the other hand, it could be argued that the Ohio State Buckeyes opened the season with an equally-dominating performance, with a 45-7 win over Marshall. After starting the season off with a quick win, the Buckeyes are now totally focused on their upcoming game this Saturday against Miami. The game will be a true test for Ohio State, and will give the team the chance it needs to make a statement for that Number 1 ranking.

Miami Florida Hurricanes +10, -110
Ohio State Buckeyes -10, -110
Miami ran over Florida A&M this past Thursday, 45-0, and hopes to upset Ohio State for a chance to move up in the national polls. However, last season’s Rose Bowl MVP Terrelle Pryor will be tough for the Hurricanes to stop, as he threw for three touchdown passes against the Thundering Herd. Ohio State is the football betting pick to win this next matchup over Miami at (-10, -110).
Both top nationally-ranked teams will have their hands full in this coming weekend packed full of college football. We will wait to see if the mighty will fall.
